Megsy42Topic: CLICK THIS FORUM NEWBIES
Hey peoples- no offense intended by the title, I just need the people who are new to forums to read it. :) I've gotten quite a few emails from people asking how to post a topic/reply/general wanderings around the forum. I know it's really confusing at first, but once you've got the hang of it, it's reaaallyy easy ^.^ New topic: Okay, on the main forum page, see a button in the top right hand corner that has a + sign and says New Topic ? CLICKY! Then write what you want in the white box that comes up and when you're done, click 'Post New Topic' in the bottom left corner. Easy peasy! Replying to a topic: Okay, this bit is probably the most important, but just as easy. Click on the forum topic that you want to post in (just click the title), and maybe read a bit of what people have written..yada yada. When you want to post, click the 'reply' button in the bottom right corner of anybody's post. It doesn't matter which one you choose, your post will always appear at the bottom. However, it does always make sense to go to the last post and read what the person has written so that you can continue conversation. I think that's probably it, unless there are other problems; if there are, just click the reply button on this post (bottom right hand corner, remember!) and post your problem, I'm sure we can sort it out. :) COOLIES, and have fun at HPFC! :) |

QueenArianaOkay, I'm not new, but I was wondering, how does one rename links? |
 |
Megsy42Right, I think there are different ways to do this, but here's mine: http://www.fanfiction.net/forum/Harry_Potter_Fanfiction_Challenges/44309 You're in the reply/post boxy thing writing your message. Get your link. ^ Along the top, in the row of button things with Bold, Italic etc, there is a button called HTML at the end. Clicky; it'll open a new window which is just the HTML code of your post. Your link will show up twice. Highlight the second one, careful not to take anything else with it (arrows, random letters etc), and delete it. Then write what you want to show up instead and press Update. It should show up as what you've written: HPFC I think theres another way of doing it but I don't think it works for me or something, anyway, this is the only way that works on my computer. Hope it makes sense! :) | #4 Sep 02nd, 6:26am . Edited Sep 02nd, 6:27am | |

xXDhampireXxMegsy I noticed you were a forum admin and wondered if you could lock a topic for me. It's the 'H' Challenge. I tried it but it said only forum admins could do it. Do you need a reason why I'm locking it? |
 |
JacksonFrostTo rename links, I do it like this: [url*=link]Name of Link[/url*] and take out the stars. I couldn't figure out the other way. |
 |
xXDhampireXxMegsy, it turns out I don't need to lock the topic afterall. I found my USB pen with all the information I need for it on it. Sorry. |

QueenArianaHey, just wanted to try if I could rename this topic, so I'll try. Click |

Eternally SeventeenHey, everyone, and thanks a tonne to Megsy42 for the help! It was really thoughtful of you :) |
 |
Izabel Lightwoodthe way I rename links is simple. 1. Type the name you want your link to appear as 2. Highlight it, and the little html link button will light up, signaling that you can put a link on that. 3. type/ copy and paste the link you want in the box 4. click ok and you're done! |
