I try to be random with some pairings, but none of them have anything to do Final Fantasy (so far.) But even if one did pop into my head, I don't think I would have the heart into shipping Cloud and Aerith with different people.

The Kingdom Hearts crack pairings I can read, especially is Sora and Ariel, but beyond that, I get a bit cringe. It's not 100% that I ever hate the pairing, but just because it's something new and it takes awhile.

The only other person that I think that I could possibly see with Aerith is Leon (the version from KH), because he looks like better than Zack. *shrugs* I didn't like Zack's design. Aerith is one of those girls who looks good with anybody, but it just so happens that I ship her only with Cloud.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this pairing yet (and that there aren't more fics dedicated to it), but I always thought that Barret and Tifa would end up together. The evidence is there.

Before Cloud shows up and throws Tifa's world upside down, Barret, Tifa, and Marlene are already in the habit of a perfect family unit. Even if it isn't particularly passionate or romantic, there's a lot of love circulating between the three of them in Seventh Heaven (that is, of course, until the Plate collapses).

I really think that once she realized that Cloud is out of the picture (at least romantically, because I think Advent Children suggests that they will always stay close friends), she will eventually end up with Barret. It just makes sense to me.

According to the FF7 Wiki, Barret is 35, and Tifa is 20. So yeah, I admit that 15 years is a gap that might be tough to bridge. However, their in-game rapport seems to indicate that they get along well enough despite this. I still think that the Tifa/Barret/Marlene family is much more feasible than Tifa/Cloud/Marlene; Cloud, in his infinite emotional awkwardness, doesn't really know what to do with kids, or how to interact with them. Tifa has a definite mothering instinct, and Barret seems like he would be (and is) a terriffic father.

I don't think that this pairing is any stranger than many of the other pairings that are out there, which (in my humble opinion) have little or no canonical basis.

Most of the slash fics (at least for FF7) out there don't base themselves on anything but the author's story outline. Having played through the game several times, the only remotely homosexual undertones I've come across are the Silver Triplets in Advent Children. And maybe Hojo, with his whole sadism schtick. And I think Yuffie might swing both ways. No real evidence on the Yuffie one, but just a hunch.

Sorry I kind of went on a rant there, and I apologize if this was the wrong place for it. I really don't want to offend anyone. It's just something that's always bothered me about slash fics. I have no problem with homosexual themes (I live with a gay couple, for goodness sake), just as long as it has some minute basis in canon.

So back to Barret/Tifa, I guess, I just think that they work well as a family unit, regardless of the age difference, and that the shift from a functional, socio-economic co-dependency to a romantic relationship isn't that much for them, and would be the next logical step for Tifa when (and if) she gets over Cloud. Besides, I've known people that have been happily married for thirty years with a 15 year (or more!) age gap between them.

Lastly, in response to your last question, I don't really like identifying myself as either Cloud/Aeris or Cloud/Tifa, or even Tifa/Barret. I just don't want to be lumped into one camp or another. I write the fics I write, not because I'm promoting one idea or another, but because I enjoy thinking about and exploring those ideas. Do I think some ideas are more plausible than others? Of course, but I try not to turn my fics into propaganda. As for how I ended up in this forum, I was browsing through a bunch and I found a topic that seemed interesting.

I thought their relationship was pretty clear. Barret thinks of her as not quite a daughter, but more like that than a potential romantic partner, as someone to take care of and a woman he respects. I don't think Tifa thinks of Barret as a father, but just a friend and someone who helped her out.

It wouldn't be the most terrible couple or anything, but I don't see any romantic chemistry between them. Barret probably still loves his wife very much, too. It's only been four years, seven years going by the most recent development. He just seems like he'd stay single to me.

Barret does seem like the type of person who would wait for his wife, because as tough as he can be, he's really a nice guy when it comes to family, like when he worries about Marlene.

I've read a lot of good Vincent/Tifa fanfiction. I've even read a good Vincent/Aerith fic. I think Vincent is good for both women. Because he's awesome and they're awesome. ^^

My favorite person to pair Tifa with is Cid, if not Reno, but Cid makes me laugh and Tifa and him could be good together. But I think Vincent has the best qualities that Tifa needs so that she can love him.

I read a lot of fanfictions for them, but there aren't a lot (or any) that I care to favorite. Simply, because once I read the fic, I know I won't care to read it again. While I adore the possibility of them being together, I stick to Clorith like gum on a shoe.

I'm in no way homophobic. I don't agree with that way of life, because I do believe God intended for men and women to be together, but I can't help but adore slash or femslash couples. Big Riku/Sora fan! So, don't be worried. I don't think you're a traitor by any means, especially when your mind is an indepedent one.

I adore Sora and Riku together, but I also like Sora and Kairi, too. I didn't like Sora and Kairi at first, because I thought some things were way too corny about the relationship, but I came to like them. But it's fair to say that I liked Sora and Kairi before I liked Riku and Sora.

I support gay rights, but I just don't 100% believe that it might be what God wants. Meanwhile, I also believe that people don't get to choose their sexual orientation (sp), it just happens. I mean, look at the 1600's Greeks. All of them were shacking up.

Hee; I don't care for Sora/Kairi in all honesty. It's another one of those vanilla pairings for me. I can only handle it in small doses every once in awhile otherwise it gets to be too much.

..That might have to do with the fact that I suspect KH2!Kairi of being a Mary-Sue though. How on earth she wielded a flower-y Keyblade out of nowhere and started slashing heartless down like she'd been doing it all her life I'll never know.
