Topic: Welcome!

Hello, everyone and anyone. ^ ^ Nilah here, just giving a little intro. Please feel free to create your own subject for your story, and at the very least Chance and I will talk you through your story, if that's what you need.

The link to our website is http://PlotBunnyExchange.synthasite.com.

Hopefully I'll talk to you! XD

Hi, I have a question. (Wow, talking to one of your favorite authors is weird. I feel like a squeamish squealing fan that is totally about to faint.) Well, if we want to discuss a story but never really write it would it be ok? Because I don't know, I might write the story or I might not. Also I think the idea is really insane, but I really want to get the insane and totally crazy idea off my chest.(At least I think its insane, I can't say much for anyone else since no one has heard it...) It's been bugging me and I'm about ready to stab the plot bunny thats causing it.

Well anyways, yeah....Thats all.(You inspire nervous!fangirl tendencies in me, you should feel ashamed. xD)

Hey! Thanks, btw, knowing you like my writing so much makes me and warm and fuzzy inside. ^ ^ And yes, of course you can! Feel free to start a discussion about any story plot that comes to your mind. :)

Talk to you later then! XD

Hey, I just wrote one of your bunnies up.

Probably ate the original bunny and made something compleatly new but it was just a fun little short.

It was for the AU DN Bunny #1 (Light is Blind)

I just spent the last hour writing it and was wondering if you wanted us who do take up the bunny to credit and post on our own accounts or send them via PM to you guys?

Just seeing the concept presented gave me the perfect image for a very very short one shot. I'm quite positive it's not going the way you imagined.

Nilahxapiel

Oh! Really!? O O That's wonderful! I'm so happy! (dances)

No, no, you definitely post them on your own account, but please credit the person who thought of the bunny somewhere. ^ ^ Wow, I can't wait to read it. It's fine that it's no tthe way I imagined, that would be sort of boring, don't you think? :) I'll definitely make sure to read and review the story when you post it! Thanks so, so, so much for writing it!

Okay I posted it. ^_^

would it be okay if I made a new topic here where I can ask you for advice on this bunny you've unleashed upon the world?

Everyone is asking for a second chapter but I want to run the idea past you just to see what you think, that and I have a few different idea's on where to go next. After all while being generally the same person Raito's dreams and priorities would be vastly different between that of a seeing Raito so the chances of him deciding to create a utopia in this universe might not be what he'd go for.

#7 Apr 28th 2008, 9:29pm
Nilahxapiel

Perfectly fine, more than fine. I'm so happy that you're considering writing more! ^_^ I agree that Raito's ideals would probably be different, and I'm glad you're exploring that. I'm happy to give advice. Thanks again! :)

I was browsing the site and found one of your plot bunnies in the rare yaoi section, where Raito and L are in an established relationship and B decides to seduce Raito. It's been gnawing at my brain ever since. D= I'm terrified of writing something from one of your plot bunnies, since you're one of my favorite authors, and especially since I've not written any Death Note fanfiction before, but... I'm considering it anyway. If that's all right?

Er... if it is all right, I do have a few questions, mostly about the setting and AU backstory, but they can wait until I get a response. You inspire nervous!fangirl tendencies in me too, I think...

Nilahxapiel

O O Really!? I'm so happy! That'll be mega, mega awesome if you write that plot bunny -of COURSE it's all right. Yay, I'm gonna be hyper for the rest of the day. Don't be terrified, lol, I'm sure you'll do fine. I haven't read any fan fiction by you, but your reviews and such are very well written, so I'm not worried, so don't be worried too much either. ^ ^ I could beta it for you, if you like, if that'll make you feel better about it. At the same time, if you rather I didn't, that's fine too, I'd be happy just to read my bunny grow up.

Yup, ask away. The AU backstory, anything else you need advice on, just shoot. ^ ^ Talk to you soon!

I'm thinking about taking ChanceXIIII's AU DN Bunny #4, and I had a question. I basically want to try and come up with a story for it without having someone else take it first. Can I give it back if nothing pans out? Or should I only take it if I'm super-serious? I need something that's NOT angsty and death-related to write about, which I realize is impossible with Death Note, but if it's AU it might not be! I'll have more questions about the "backstory" if you're ok with me taking it.

#11 May 03rd 2008, 2:48am
Nilahxapiel

Hey there. ^ ^ Actually, I'm afraid that someone got to that Bunny before you. I'm really sorry. I'd like to help you find a non-death-related to write, if you want though. :( Sorry about that.

It's probably a good idea for me to make a 'Pending Writing' thing or something, for when someone wants to do what you've brought up. Thank you, and I hope to talk to you soon! ^ ^

Rats, I must have just missed it. I'll keep an eye out for a "potentially less angsty" bunny that piques my interest. The site was a great idea!

Um, hi ^^

Okay, so I have this plot bunny stuck in my head, and I know there is absolutely no way I am ever going to write it, but if it would be alright with you, could I submit it to the site? Because I would love to see it written ^_^

Ahhh... I just want to start laughing. I'm kinda shaking right now anyways. (And still eating my "photoshoot" apple"). You've already been told this, but talking to one of my favourite authors on fanfiction.net is really exciting. I feel ready to burst or something.

Well, I just wanted to say, that I've been thinking about AU DN Bunny #'s 2, 3 and 5. I'm not sure on any of them yet, but I just wanted to let you know. You can leave them unhighlighted just in case someone else wants to write it, but yeah.

The website was a great idea. I may just submit some plot bunnies soon. Especially since I can't really write humor... And attempting would only probably serve to make me look like a fool.

Also, may I start a topic about a story that isn't a plot bunny on the exchange site? I'm looking for insight on a plot bunny that is currently amongst my fanfiction pet projects.

Thanks! Eeh! It's so exciting being able to talk to you. Heh heh...

~ Amorpheous

P.S. Who took Plot Bunny #4. I'm itching to read it when it's posted.

Um....Hello everyone! Nilah let me come in and set up her forum so it's a bit easier to navigate now. Hope you guys don't mind overmuch.

Just read through the Informational thread and it explains everything. There's also a comprehensive list of Bunnies and which of them are claimed and by whom. You'll have to refer to the website for full plots, because I just put the tags up.

And uh...Yeah.

(crawls under rock with pocky) Have fun now!

(Joins Mikanis under rock with 'Men's Bitter Chocolate Pocky') (whispers) Hiiiiiiiiiii....

Luks rery ret! (mumbles through pocky)

Looks really great! (shoves more pocky in mouth) _____

Does anyone find it sexist that Pocky calls the bitter chocolate pocky "Men's"?

#17 Jun 06th 2008, 6:16pm
Bloodshot Eyes

*reads off her box of Men's Pocky "For the type of person who enjoys the finer points in life"*

I disagree. Chocolate, especially dark, is God's gift to women, and therefore none are equipped to better appreciate it. I'm convinced that, like butterflies, most men's tastebuds reside somewhere in the vicinity of their feet, for 'tis certainly not in their mouths. /rant

On topic, I think the forum looks much better and more navigable now. Hooray! *dips Men's Pocky in chocolate ice cream while eyeballing the bumper crop of new bunnies*

Nardaviel

Hihi! I am not dead. I am working on my bunny. I will not be sidetracked by the other, tempting bunnies, no I will not. ::determined::

I am horribly equipped to appreciate chocolate. I've always hated it, even when I was really little. ...I sometimes wonder if that means I can't really be female. D=

#19 Jun 06th 2008, 8:38pm
Mikanis

Actually, I find it kinda sexist to call a man sexist! ^^ I just don't see the point in imitating the act I suppose...(hands out dark pocky). You'll have to forgive me my rock, I'm a bit a shy. I was worried the changes would be annoying to some....

But Really...Nilah and Chance have something good going here...I can easily see this site of theirs growing into a full community with its roots here on FF. The idea is good, and if they can get a good system going and enough returning browsers, they may end up with a full project on their hands! I mean, can you imagine? Innocent internet wanderers finding The Bunny Exchange and then joining FF to post their work? How awesome would that be?

...I like to study people, not to meet them. Hence my rock, but spare pocky. ^^

Anyway, I thought it'd be easier to find the Writers if they posted on the forum instead of just claiming them in the middle of a thread, you know? So then, when they finish a bunny, we can just go to the Adoption thread and have a valid link to their profile (and ergo the bunny) in one place.

Also, I posted a challenge bunny, if anyone's interested...

#20 Jun 06th 2008, 10:38pm
Bloodshot Eyes

No need for rocks here. We're all still hiding behind our respective aliases and avatars anyway so we can watch the goings-on with impunity since no one can connect our super-secret real life identities to our pen names. I agree with Mikanis that this site could turn into a great community, what with putting story ideas out there and enlisting other writers' help to get them written. I wonder if this is how co-authors get together?

Do you wish for those of us already claiming stories to re-post in the Adoption Thread, therefore providing links to the stories? I certainly didn't answer all the questions you have for the stories getting adopted.

Alas, there are few opportunities for blood and death with your bunny, Mikanis, and my attempts at humor are atrocious, so I shall be passing on that one even if I watch it to see what others write. Good luck to the writers working on their bunnies already!

(Is this basically turning into a chitchat thread now? Someone tell me to shush if it isn't.)

Nightmare Remnant

I'm not a very OMG it says MEN'S POCKY, what about a GIRL Huh HUH?! Kind of person, its good, I'll eat it, end of story. Also if you don't like chocolate it's fine, my friends allergic to it, can't touch nor eat any of it. Well maybe a little bit, but she doesn't have the taste buds for it. And she is pretty feminine (even if she did grow up with boys) she's got the boobs to prove it.xD Wow, now that I've commented upon the whole chocolate issues.....

I wish I could write that story idea thingy mabobber Mikanis came up with.D= But I can't, I already have one project going and if I start another one I'll just abandon the one I'm working on. (Its an original/not so original story I'm doing for a contest on another site.)

But *snickers* I have no doubt Light KNOWS he's flashing some skin and that L, is looking.xD

Mikanis

I'd appreciate it if you reposted your claims. It will make it easier for me to keep up with as well...As it is, I know that a few bunnies are claimed but Nilah hasn't gotten me pennames yet.

Regardless, I plan to update that list regularly, so use it as a quick reference. I've been moderating sites for a while now, so this one shouldn't be too difficult to maintain. I was hoping that the new layout would make it a bit easier for newcomers to look around and get an idea of the site. However, I'm limited to the FF forum...I have no idea how to build websites or edit them, so the Plot Bunny Exchange itself is entirely in Nilah's hands.

I just...squeejeed the forum.

Also, We could really use some advertisement...any one here know how to put pictures IN their profiles? Because I photoshop, and I could easily make a little Tag for this place that we can tuck into our profiles...something small, just to get the word out. I plan to put a notice in every new update of my stories for a bit. Any ideas?

I do! (grabs a blanket)

You use: ,a href="url to wherever".,img.linkage and all the descriptions that you can get on photobucket,/img.,/a.

Instead of using ',' and '.' use the symbol that you get when you shift ',' and '.'. The little symbols don't want to show up on this forum...

You can get it on photobucket in the html code thing. Just replace the url to the image page with the to this place/The Pot Bunny Exchange.

Hope this helps! I photoshop too... A little. Not too much though.

Nardaviel

...squeejee is a funny word. Squeejee. Squeejee. Except no matter how I spell it, it doesn't look right. D=

Is it even possible to put images in profiles? I just tried to put one in mine using the img HTML tag, but FF just deleted the damn tag as soon as I clicked submit. FF coding sucks. I'll keep poking around, but... =\

#25 Jun 07th 2008, 10:26am
Nardaviel

I'm sorry... I'm probably being dense, but I couldn't get it to work. ._. What is this referring to, exactly:

linkage and all the descriptions that you can get on photobucket

It's just that... there's a lot of stuff under each image on Photobucket and I don't know which to pick. o_o The HTML code didn't work, so...

I'm sorry I'm stupid. x_x

#26 Jun 07th 2008, 10:40am
Mikanis

(pets) No, Nardaviel, you're not stupid. HTML just doesn't agree with us.

Amorpheous, I have a proprosal. If I create a little site-tag to advertise, and post the link to it on the forum, could you put it in the proper HTML code and post that for us to copy? I've never had much luck with coding...not unless they had the little code buttons at the top for clutzy fingers like mine. ^^

I'll throw it on the informational thread so everyone can get to it!

I'll play around with a few ideas and maybe we can vote for a site favorite. Or, I can just make four or five, post them all, and you can pick which ever you like. How does that sound?

I made my own avatar, if you wanted a sample. That's a reference to one of my stories, but I painted it in Adobe myself.

#27 Jun 07th 2008, 11:45am . Edited Jun 07th 2008, 11:47am
Amorpheous

Sure.

(hugs Nardaviel) Did you try putting it into the html code version of your profile? It's hard to go through there and try to find the correct spot, but once you do, you just have to paste in a code. That's why most links on people's profiles are just urls. You're not stupid at all. I kind of forgot all my html knowledge from a website coding class... I just ahve a few things that I took notes on... Which is why describing a picture using html is lost on me...

Do as you like. ^___^ I'm up for anything.

I'm not sure images work. Let me test it out on my profile real quick.

#28 Jun 07th 2008, 2:30pm
Amorpheous

I don't think it works. I just tried 2 different html image codes and BB Code. I'll see if I can get some obscure CSS code to work... I have to go look up the CSS code because I don't know any of it...

Just because this forum is active, I've got a question. Does anyone have the actual birthdates, according to DN: How to Read 13, for Near, Matsuda, and Sayu? I'm hundreds of miles from my DN Bible and I want to start working on a story! Help!

Eep! Sorry. I don't. But it's good to see you here!

I'm sorry about not replying to your PM yet. I've been terribly busy and I put a lot more thought into your PM's than I do with most because our conversation is quite a bit more mentally stimulating than the single sentanced answers I usually get from people.

I actually just got the DN dates, so ignore my last post.

Woah, I definitely fail at trying to figure these things out. I'm still trying to figure out how to post on these things - is the "Reply" button the only way to do so? Makes me kinda feel like an idiot before the ever-seeing eyes of the idolized Nilah - not to dismiss anyone else's abilities, I promise. No, really.

Anyways, I'm Kagome-reincarnation, and I've been practicing for a while, but there's definitely an infinite space for improvement. I'm a "-holic," meaning that when I find something I like, I'll go through a phase, but it'll eventually pass, though the fondness for it will stay, and likely keep me active. Er.... As far as Gaian accounts... "Hiyami Nao Mayumi" - without the quotations, of course.

Bah, work. I've just gotten off, and I turned in my two week's notice yesterday. Good riddance.

Oo What ho, someone's picked up my challenge? Huzzah! Can't wait to see it.

As it stands, darlings, the tags will have to wait until tomorrow...I've just come home and they expect back to work breakfast shift at four thirty. I plan to start on them when I come home, and I suppose we'll figure something out as far as coding goes. I may have to beg a favor from a friend of mine.

Also, Welcome Kagome's Incarnation!

And if anyone needs fact checking done, I have the entire manga and volume thirteen at my disposal.

(This is entirely too disjointed to be considered intelligent conversation. I'm jest a bit tired, yus indeed. Pocky and mah rock. )

Okies then. Also, I have a quick, and probably unintelligent question. Can we co-write plot bunnies? I'm almost 100 percant positive that the answer is yes, but I'd like to make sure. And, to be even more annoying, can we take back our plot bunnies if you've found someone that would like to try it out with you?

I'm sorry if this is already somewhere, but my brain refuses to function at the moment.

That makes two of us to say goodbye to our jobs, though I didn't bother with the 2 weeks notice and just went on vacation after a mostly apologetic announcement that it was my last day. They deserved it. I've got my facts for now but I may avail myself of your resources the rest of my time on vacation since I left my books at home in truly retarded fashion, since I should have known I could not go without writing.

If we can't do image tags, what about a text design? Not nearly as pretty, but I've seen creative things done with nothing but punctuation and spaces artfully arranged.

I'm done for, my eyes are crossing.

Mikanis or anyone else with the source material, around what date does Sayu go into "shock" and stop speaking? It should be right after she gets back from being kidnapped and all.

#42 Jun 09th 2008, 10:23am
Mikanis

10/13/09, according to volume Thirteen.

They don't give an exact date for her going mute, but I think its safe to assume it would be the day she was rescued, or perhaps a day or two before. It would really depend on the amount of trauma Mello put her through... but relatively speaking, she appears healthy and conscious in every panel she appears in during her ransom.

Glad to be of service.

MIKANIS!!! (glomp) Just wanted to say 'hi' and thank you, thank you, thank you again! 'Cause you're awesomely awesome. ^ ^

To answer Amorpheous' question, yes you can co-write, that's just fine with me! Once you adopt a bunny it's yours, and as long as you take care of it. :P Yup, you can take a bunny back as long as it hasn't been adopted yet, just tell me which one, okay? :)

And Kagome-reincarnation, no worries! Goodness, I'm a complete Newb to this as well. (points at Kani) She did all the pretty stuff on the forum, so yeah... O O Ever-seeing? Dude, I'm omniscient now? (blink) Well, thank you! :) I've always wanted a superpower...

I'm officially ungrounded, family stuff has settled, and it's SUMMER for me, so I'll have lots of time to talk to you guys more! And write, of course. I'm sort of moving at the moment though, so lots of packing to do...but that shouldn't distract too much from my, um...internet/fan fiction life. ^ ^

So tempted to act like a fangirl - excluding, of course, the fact that I AM one. -sweat- I'm glad I'm not the only confused person. And co-writing a bunny sounds like fun. There's a couple I'd like to try picking up, but I'm not confident on doing them on my own. Anyone up for a bit of passing back and forth?

.... Now that I think of it, how would that work? O_o Would it be only multi-chaptered works that could follow that? -muses confusedly-

#45 Jun 09th 2008, 12:39pm
Mikanis

Gah! Easy Nilah-muse! (pets) Kani needs to breathe. And don't thank me really, it was fun.

The shyest author on FF was just hugged by the most popular...there has to be a universal law against that, lol. /-teasing.

It wouldn't necessarily have to be multichaptered, Kagome. I guess it would depend on the amount of trust between authors...if a oneshot were exchanged to be co-written, I'd have to trust you implicitly not to alter my writing under any circumstances. Perhaps if we discussed it, but really the only reason I can see for such an edit would be a grievous grammar mistake...and even then, not without permission and acknowledgment by your co-author. Any inconsistencies as far as plot or characterization would have to be patched up by the person who made them. Perhaps I'm old fashioned.

Nilah and I are currently working on something with a site called Google Docs. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to co-author a piece. There are no downloads or fees, and the site hosts any document that you create. When logged on together, two authors can simultaneously edit a blank document...so much so, that if I wanted, I could sit there and watch Nilah type in real time. It automatically saves as well, and can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection. Go browse, it's really an amazing thing. I'm recommending it to all my Beta-projects.

Shyest? Truly? You seem unabashedly straightforward to me on your profile and in your writing. Perhaps it is the anonymous nature of the internet to make us shy types... not shy.

Anyway, the first chapter of Nilah's GenFic1 bunny is up, in case Nilah wanted to put it under the "Read Bunnies" link on her site. It's called "Unexpected." It's a stretch for me, but I hope it works. I do think my summary is heinous, though, so I might change it later.

My Profile is longwinded and pointless. I suppose I got bored and wanted to see how much meaningless information I could shove into it...And you're right, after browsing the internet for a few years, you kind of develop a basic personality sketch to post on site requiring profiles.

Which reminds me, by the by, that it needs updating since my stories have changed up a bit. Hmm...I'll do that later.

And congratulations on your bunny, Blood! (scurries to edit the information thread)

#48 Jun 09th 2008, 9:22pm
Bloodshot Eyes

My profile is like my writing; fraught with unnecessary detail and too many compound sentences. I liked your meaningless info, because rather than saying your age, location, etc, which is truly unimportant and mostly uninteresting, you said you wear a top hat everyday and don't respect people who abuse the word "Goth". That made me chuckle.

Ack, I've never been called "Blood" before. I should think more carefully about my pen name. Either Bloodshot Eyes or Michi works, but not just Blood. *shudders*

#49 Jun 09th 2008, 9:38pm
Mikanis

Well, that's force of habit, actually...if I don't have a working name I usually use some variation of the pen. I found it rather morbid too, but at least it served its purpose.

(wink) A pleasure to meet you, Michi.

And "Goth" is a beautiful style of architecture...not terrible make-up and jeans with too many zippers. I swear, I could strip these kids with a decent magnet.
