L and Kira are locked in the battle of discovering each others names when Kira discovers something else... a doorway through time. Coming up with a plan to use it to bring about L's down fall writes down the ideas and travels back in time... too far. Because the same soul can't exist in the same time and space at the same time the Light of that time does the opposite and comes forward in time. Kira unfortunately is found by an extremist religious group who kill him on the spot for witchcraft. Light however is found by L. Now L is faced with a very confused, very innocent Light who knows nothing about the world around him. He also seems to be very familiar with L's name but knows nothing of Kira. L finds himself quickly becoming seduced by Light's laid back and easy manner despite being rather formal. Upon realising that this L is not his love Light fight's L's advances and starts researching the past and 'Kira's' notes on time travel. However Light can't fight L for long and realises he loves this L too. However upon realising Light truly had to leave and that Kira was gone for good L; heart broken agreed to help Light find out more about time travel. Once they found a way to manipulate it so sent Light to the time he wanted they said farewell and Light went back... to when L was 6 and gave him a note detailing Kira and everything that happened saying that L is to find Light when he turns 21 (Light would be 16 so he wouldn't have found the Death Note) in order to save Light and the rest of the world. After kissing him on the cheek, Light tells L that he loves him before returning to his time and his secret love ‘L’. Giving the letter to Watari for safe keeping L then goes on to find Light again.

Soon L is drawn into Light's game as he eagerly awaits the next clue to solve. The battle of wits and seduction has begun.

What if Misa had joined L's cause right from the start? What if instead of a burglar killing Misa's parents it was Kira who killed Misa's parents? Misa hates Kira and loves L for trying to catch him however after meeting Light and thus Kira in person she falls for him immediately and comes up with a plan to save him from both L and Kira. Misa then gives Rem a message to give Light that he is to give up the DN to Rem who will give it to Misa to destroy. If he doesn't Misa will hand him into L. Now Light is back to being 'pure' again and L's case is devastated and what's worse is that he is enjoying Light's company too much. Not able to trust Misa any longer L returns the DN to Rem but keeps a couple of sheets. Too make matters worse Light seems to like him too (when they aren't fighting) Now L's resolve to solve the world's toughest case is being tested. Will he continue to fight when Kira has become nothing but a bad dream to the rest of the world or will he give in and accept Light who has a mind to match his own and would be a partner beyond compare and give him a chance at a love beyond his wildest dreams.

Plot: After finishing high school Yagami Light is unsure about what he wants to do with his life. Joining the police sounds good, but after some thinking he realises that he can never really use all his talents there.

While he is thinking about his future-choices, he is contacted by a man named Watari, who asks him to accept schooling as a teacher and later on a position as an instructor in the Whammy Orphanage.

Light is sceptical, but after meeting with Watari and being told about the wide spectrum of subjects he would be able to teach, together with the fact that he is teaching genii, the youth accepts.

One year later (having finished his training in record-time), Light works as a teacher, when a seven-year-old, frighteningly intelligent and traumatised L Lawliet comes to the orphanage and catches Light's attention.

Restrictions: I'd like this to be a story about how L rises to be the best Detective the world has to offer with Light's influence as a teacher/parent/friend/rival/role-model.

The King agrees and gives Light a chance to earn his passage into either heaven or hell, depending how well he does the job that the King gives him.

What's his job? It's to make sure that the reincarnations of L, Matt, Near, Mello, Naomi and Raye are happy.

Will he be able to do it with Ryuk as a side-kick?

Also, what will he do when he falls in love with one of his former enemies?

It's a pity then that he can only communicate with them in their dreams, but luckily for him, the person he is attracted to seems to find him just as fascinating...

Now back in time just before the LABB murdercase, he quickly becomes online friends with Light, who finds this 'Ryuzaki' fellow to be quite intreguing. But as L stops Light from ever recieving the Death Note, and changes his views, no good deed goes unpunished. For L is not the only one who was sent to change the past. A very fanatic 'god' lover has also been sent back. Their instructions: make sure Light Yagami stays true to his path as Kira.

Can Light overcome what his future self could not, or is he doomed to be Kira from the start.

At the end of the case, Light was supposed to go to the local orphanage, but his time with Naomi was not idly spent. Instead of going to an orphanage, he is adopted, by Naomi.

How would the story go if Light met BB when trying to help his adopted mother on the case? How would things change if he met Lat a much earlier age? And what happens when his mother is murdered by Kira? Hiow would the DN universe play out?

A note before I give the details to this challenge. Firstly, this is the first plot bunny I'm giving up so pardon any mistakes. Secondly, the idea come to me really early in the morning while still sufferring the effect that coffee has, therefore the idea might be a bit odd. I haven't seen any story similar, so hopefully it will provide the inspirationg for a unique story. I would write the story myself, but my commitment to writing is shaky at best and I have a couple of stories I need to finish, which will probably be my last. Hopefully someone reading this will find it an interesting concept and choose to develop it further and turn it into a story.

Plot: It's a common theme now-a-days of Light getting a second chance after death in which to correct his mistakes. But surely that is not enough for the boy to truly be reformed? No, to send him back to his illusionary throne as a god of Justice would simply lead him down the same path, perhaps with a better understanding of successful manipulation. No, for the boy to reform and repent, he has to be shown differently. That is why, when Light wakes to his second chance - it is not to the title of Kira. Instead he learns a most distressing truth. Amane Misa is the world famous detective known as 'M'. Hidden behind the lovely face and child like demeanour is an iron will and a cunning intellect, hidden beneath the ditzy stereotype. So who is Kira? None other than the aloof hunched back L. To add insult to injury, Light learns that he himself is the love struck fool trailing after 'Kira' with a misplaced and obsessive devotion. It is a complete role reversal. Where once Light was the manipulator, he is now the manipulated. Where L was the embodiment of Justice, he is now the embodiment of evil. Where Misa was no more than a lovestruck girl, she has now taken the place as one of the most influential and powerful people on Earth. And naturally, Light will stand for none of this.

L found the notebook, and being the bored and childish individual he is, he used it. To him it is a game, a match of wits and intelligence with the world as the playing field. It is a challenge, and all was going well. Until, that is, he met a certain brunette. As far as L is concerned, Light is nothing more than a half witted, over emotional nuisance whose constant confessions of love and devotions grew more and more tiresome each day. So it comes to a shock, one day, when Light's whole attitude changes drastically. The fool is replaced with a shrewd young man that hates his very being and wants nothing to do with him. Suddenly L finds himself interested in the boy, especially once he catches a glimpse of his true intelligence. Had this side of the boy simply been hidden from him? For the Light that proclaimed himself to be Kira/L's devoted servant, and the Light that directs such malice at him cannot possibly be one and the same.

Misa had long suspected that L was 'Kira', but the man was too good at hiding and keeping his tracks hidden to be pinned down. His lack of good style and less than pleasing mannerisms itself lending credibility to her suspicions. So when one handsome teen starts trailing after the social recluse and Kira suspect, Misa knows that something is amiss. There could be no other reason for the teens interest in L other than his identity as Kira, but how to prove it? When she catches wind of the change in 'Yagami Light' from his respected father, Misa sees this as a chance to take L down. If she can get Light allied to her side, then surely Kira's days will be numbered.

Now Light is faced with a choice. Join Misa and have the satisfaction of bringing his hated rival to his knees without the help of Rem and possibly wrest back his title as Kira, or see this as an opportunity to create a friendship/partnership with a man as ambitious and intelligent as himself. Both desicions have their risks and their opportunities.

Restrictions: I'm pretty open any changes and improvements in regards to the idea. I like a well thought out plot, action, character development and the like. The idea itself lends to any genre, especially comedy. However I prefer tasteful well thought out comedy rather than silly rubbish (not meaning to offend anybody with my terminology here!). As for pairing, ideally I would like L/Light or the other way round. Other pairings, side pairing eg slight Misa/Light is fine as well as no pairings at all. No character bashing, and preferrably no Whammy boys unless they will play a plausible and realistic part in the story - I prefer serious stuff. Them being there to cause general chaos is not really what I want. With rating, nothing less than a T, prefer an M. Lemons/limes and what ever citrus is out there is fine but not compulsory - I enjoy citrus scenes when they are well written and plausible, but I would prefer a good story. Lastly, I'm not harsh and I'm not going to throw a fit if someone uses the idea without minding my 'restrictions', or if they expand the idea into something of more interest. At this point, I'm merely interested in reading something with the same concept.

How would this change the plot line if Misa was to die, and L cant arrest Light due to a lack of evidence?

Plot: Has everyone ever wondered about Mello's obsession with chocolate? Where did it begin? How did it start? And is their some kind of secret meaning behiend it? Is their a connection between the chocolate and the name Mello?

It all began when a family took a vacation to Mello's home country, where the elderst child happened to come across the orphaned blonde. Finding that he liked Mello, they spent their time together. The eldest child always gave Mello a chocolate bar when thwy met up, and gave him the nick name Mello. The family left, but Mello never forgot his first and still remaining best friend, even when at Whammys. That families name was Yagami, and his BR's name was Light Yagami.

Fast forward to the Kira case. L decides to have the help of his sucessors when working on the case, so in comes the Whammy boys. Just one problem: Mello knows the main suspect, Light. Believing that his friend couldnt be Kira, he sets out to prove Light innocent. But their paths cross again, and Mello finds himself having feelings more then the friendly kind to Light.

Meanwhile, Light has found a death note, but instead of giving in and killing anyone, he holds on to it, realising that it was Kiras means of killing when he meets the shinigami Ryuk. Realising that he was a suspect later on by the cameras in his room, he investigates who is framing him, and putting them on death roll. He never expected to run in to Mello again, even though he always carries a bar of chocolate with him, and he certainly never expected to fall in love with his best friend.

Joining forces, they work together to bring down Kira to justice, along with falling in love. Of course, things arent easy when L and Near fall for Light, of Matt struggles to win Mello's affection.

Can Light be saved? And does Kira have a personal connection with him?

Restrictions: This has to be a MelloxLight in that sequence, (meaning Light uke) and their has to be some one-sided pairings.

And she can make sure that her brother will never bother her again since he is going to be a sacrifice to keep Kira safe - her brother may have genius intellect, but Sayu has an innocent smile and it may prove to be more deadly than Light could take.

Unfortunately for her, L takes a quite unusual interest in Light, which could throw a wrench in her plans...

One day, L, who has never made a public appearance or given an interview before, sends a statment to every major newspaper in the world, declaring that he has created 'The Ultimate Mystery'. He has decided to vanish, go somewhere where no one would think to look for him and challense his readers to try and find him. The problem? No one knows L's real name or even what he looks like. That however isn't going to stop Light Yagami. Determined to be the one to find L, Light runs away from home and begins a worldwide quest to find his favorite author by following the clues that L continues to send out. All while trying to outsmart the other 'competitors' he meets along the way.

But as the war drags on, civil unrest and political tension rise amongst both sides, and eventually order falls apart and anarchy reigns, pitting Shinigami against Shinigami and Arrancar against Arrancar.

Restrictions: Genres are to be Adventure and Horror. Characters from the latest Bleach story arc (preferably the manga) can be added into the fray. Themes such as betrayal, order and chaos, decay, madness and descent into insanity, war, and justice (convoluted or not) must be made prominent. The setting should take place at both Seireitei, Rukongai, and Hueco Mundo, but the Living World can be used, as well. Pairings can be Het, Yaoi, and Yuri, but romance doesn't have to be a major factor in the story. Lastly, there must be character deaths. The ending can go three ways: the Shinigami win, the Arrancar win, or nobody wins; it's entirely up to the writer.

Plot: "A surprising twist of fate leaves Chikane to avoid the cycle of endless reincarnation. In the peace that follows she meets a person who will forever change her life and the lives of those around her: herself." "Entwined Souls" is basically a modern version of "The Prince and the Pauper", in such that Chikane and Kaon meet and switch roles/identities, make love/raise hell/kick ass, and switch back after a while... Only, before they switch back, the space-time continuum rips open and the "Kyoshiro" steps into the "Kannazuki" dimension. And until they find a way to get them back to their proper world, Chikane and Kaon are forced to commit to their different roles.

Restrictions: Genres are to be listed as Humor and Drama. Main pairings have to be Chikane/Himeko, Kaon/Himiko, Chikane/Himiko, Kaon/Himeko (XD), but there can also be secondary pairings, Het or Yaoi or Yuri. Plot: You know how in some post-series DN fics, Matsuda, Sayu, or some other character continues the reign of Kira? Well, not that those are not bad or anything, but I want to see something different. So, the plot of this PB is to have Aizawa, via a series of events, become the new Kira two or three years after Light Yagami's death. The Shinigami that drops the Notebook can be any one, so long as it isn't the Shinigami King or Shinigami!Light.

Restrictions: The highest rating must be T. There can be no Yaoi, nor will Aizawa be allowed to cheat on his wife (should he still be married in this fic). Please do not forget that Aizawa has a daughter and another child (whose gender and age can be determined by the author), and the elder daughter would be around Light's age at the beginning of Death Note, give or take a few years. Matsuda cannot die, unless it proves necessary to the plot. Near must die, but the winner of the battle of wits can be determined by the author.

I just thought of another PB, just came to my mind when reading what When They Cry was about.

Plot: After his death, Light Yagami wakes up to find himself back in his house, a week before he first found the Death Note. Naturally this confuses him, but he considers it a stroke of luck that he can do everything all over again. This time he plans to eliminate Near, Watari, and L straight off, knowing their names and faces. However, the Death Note does not drop at the appointed time. Three days later criminals start getting killed via heart attacks, but Light Yagami is not doing it this time. This confuses the genius further. One night, a rush of memories comes to him. Memories of alternate timelines in which he has either been Kira or tried to capture Kira. However, they all end the same way: with his demise, and L's death as well.

Realizing he has been caught in this endless time loop, Light Yagami now seeks to break it at any cost. The next day he is contacted by L, who confesses that memories of the other timelines have been brought back to him as well. Working somewhat reluctently together, the two attempt to find the current Kira and end the cycle before they both die. However, Kira is closer than they think, and another individual will make sure the cycle continues...

Restrictions: No yaoi whatsoever, please. The current Kira can be chosen by the author, and can be a Canon character or OC. The ending is also for the author to decide. The minimum rating must be T at best. Romance is allowed so long as their is no yaoi.

Plot: At ages eight and five respectively, Light and Sayu Yagami are orphaned after a car wreck takes their parents lives. With no other living relatives, the siblings are put into the foster care system. By a string of bad luck, they always wind up in abusvie households. Light, in an effort to protect his little sister, takes the brunt of the abuse and get it not only physically but in some cases, sexually. However, because of his actions, Sayu remains relatively unharmed. Years later, Light sues for emancipation as well as custody of his sister and thanks to some genius tactics and persuasion, wins both cases.

Things are not well though. All the abuse Light has gone through has boiled up inside him and eventually, all his feelings of anger and hate form into a split personality whom Light dubs 'Kira'. Unlike Light, Kira blames Sayu for everything 'they' went through and even goes so far as to suggest Light get rid of her. Light however loves his sister more than anything and supresses Kira as much as he can. That's when the Death Note gets involved. Upon finding and testing it, Kira is thrilled and Light is appalled. He attempts to throw away the Death Note but, sensing that Light is serious, Kira forcefully takes control and cuts Sayu's arms while she sleeps. This is to show Light that if he gives up the notebook, Kira will kill Sayu. Light is now forced to commit murders on his altar ego's behalf, comforted only by the knowledge that it keeps Sayu safe, and that the people Kira and he are killing are all criminals (as well as the siblings former foster parents).

When the public realizes that all the deaths are really murders, they ironically dub the killer 'Kira' as well. Sayu becomes vehemently Anti-Kira going so far as to start a club at school for those who oppose him. Things only get more difficult when L comes into the picture.

Restrictions: No yaoi, no het, no pairings at all. This story is about Light and Sayu and I'd like it to stay that way. Friendship is fine, romance is not.

Plot: Yagami Light is a genius. However, because of that, he has never really understood why people act the way they do.

Even after reading psychology books he isn't satisfied, instead wanting to find out for himself if people really react to things the way described.

So he starts to experiment. At first it's only a little - how people react to smiles, to frowns, to smirks,...

Then he takes it a step further. He creates personas, with which he goes out, meets different people and creates a whole network of people in debt to him/befriended to him.

There is Kusanagi Reiji - a delinquent with Yakuza friends in high places.

There is Satou Shinichi - a free-lance programmer who works for several big-shot companies.

There is Takagi Sakuya - a womanizer who is always surrounded by more than three women.

There is Akagawa Shou - a promising student who is interested in law.

And then there is Shinkiro Kira - a serious boy who is friends with many police-officers.

Light is content with his personas, learning things just to make them more believable. Then, one day, Kira stumbles across the corpse of a wanted murderer and - not wanting the police to find out who he really is - he leaves, not wanting to get caught up in things.

Unfortunately someone else saw him leaving the scene and now he is wanted either as a witness or as the murderer and he is unsure of how to handle this.

Finally deciding to go to the police as Kira and explaining himself to them, he changes into his persona and again stumbles across a corpse. Freaking out, he leaves the scene, again without calling the police and again, someone sees him and reports him.

Now he is wanted as a definite murder-suspect and, still dealing with all of his other personas, Light has to decide what to do, since apparently someone is hell-bent on framing Kira.

Using all of his resources he now has to find out who is killing these people and why they involved Kira, which may very well get his other personas into danger.

Restrictions: The personas (other than Kira) are optional and just suggestions. Also you can make it a serious, or a humorous story (maybe also create a female character for him, or maybe someone who is a cosplayer, etc), I'm fine with both. Other DN characters definitely should be included - maybe they meet his various characters and don't know they're one and the same.

Mello and the Mafia, Matt and the computer firms, Mikami maybe in the library and fighting over a law-book, Naomi in one of the martial arts classes he takes to make Reiji more believable, etc.

You can create your own personas, change the ones I listed and generally do whatever you want.

BL would be interesting but it's up to the writer whether to do it. L definitely has to show up, but how it also up to the writer.

Plot: In a different time and place, L is not a detective, but instead a famous magician. Light Yagami is not a mass murderer, but instead one of the famous L's greatest rivals, known only under the alias of 'Kira'. Both of them are never seen on-stage without their masks. For many years now they've competed against each other, trying to top the other with their next show. No one has ever found out their true identities, even though many have tried. The two magicians do not know who the other is as well. After many years of fierce competition, Light ,or 'Kira', believes he has found his ticket to finally defeating L. An ancient book of tricks and spells known as the 'Death Note' is given to him by a stranger only known as 'Ryuk' who took his payment in apples. The one condition of giving him the book, however, is that Ryuk can stay with him until he's done with the Death Note.

With the help of the Death Note, Light is able to use real magic in his shows, and can now do tricks that no one else has ever done. However, this must come at a price. The Death Note is slowly twisting Light, corrupting him, making him become even more obsessed with defeating L. What once started as a friendly rivalry has turned into a war, as L starts to wonder how Kira is doing his tricks, and begins his own investigation into the matter. Soon, things start to spin out of control. Can Light cast away the Death Note before it destroys him and the people around him, or will it all end in tragedy?

Restrictions: No yaoi, please. Pairings are for the author to decide, so long as their is no yaoi. The rating must be T at most, and the ending is up for the author to decide as well.

Plot: Loose X-Men crossover; an attempted rape at age 11 switches something on in Light's brain and he finds that, by saying people's full names (first & surnames) whilst picturing their faces he can cause them to die in any way he chooses, although the default death is through a heart attack. He kills his attacker, but is shocked by the act of murder and flees, vowing never to use his powers again. What he isn't aware of, though, is someone lurking in the shadows, someone who saw everything and is now very curious as to the identity of the boy, whose face he didn't see.

Cut to a point 6-8 years later, and Light has done his best to forget the whole thing. Trouble is, the witness hasn't, and has been tracking him down ever since the attack. He begins sending him notes, identifying himself only as 'Ryuk', and says that he is watching him and that if Light does not do what he says, he will reveal the truth of what happened to him as an 11-year-old. Light agrees to cooperate, and Ryuk begins sending him lists of people to kill- members of the Yakuza, corrupt businessmen etc. Light reasons that this is okay- these people are wrongdoers, after all- but eventually the requests begin to turn more sinister, asking him to kill innocents.

Enter L- detective and (unbeknownst to the general public) mind-reader. His ability, however, does not hold up as evidence in court, so even with it he has to look for more solid proofs. When he fails to narrow in on Light for a while, the desperate teen begins attempting to send him messages with the deaths to lead him to Ryuk. What will come of that, though, is something neither of them will be able to foresee.

Restrictions: None. If there is any yaoi, though, do make it happen on a realistic timescale- however grateful Light may be to his rescuer, I don't see him as the type to be jumping into bed with someone he's only known for a short period of time.

Plot: Decades have passed since Light turned the tables on Near at the warehouse, and he now reigns victorious as the God of the New World, Kira. All enemies that have come since then, Light has crushed. Mikami Teru and Misa Amane are long dead, though Light has a new Second Kira with the Eyes, who is a pawn in his plans. A majority of the leading countries in the world now accept the reign of Kira, and many politicians are even supporting Kira in campaigns. War has become nonexistent, and crime is at an all time low. Most of the police are still against Kira, but cannot do anything about him.

Light has now become the Prime Minister of Japan, and is the most popular Prime Minister in his country in years. Under his policy Japan officially supports the actions of Kira, and urges those who still remain opposed against him to their side. Alongside his leadership of his motherland, Yagami rules his Kira Empire with an iron fist. Victory after victory, no one has come close to defeating the genius. However, Light has one last opponent which he fights a losing battle against.

Time.

Light has aged considerably the past few decades, and with each year he becomes ever closer to Death's doorstep. Light will die sooner or later, and he knows this. His body is growing old, and he cannot do some things he once did in his youth. No matter what he tries, he cannot prevent death. His battle against time has been going downhill since he was born. Under different circumstances, Light might accept this. However, he knows that if he dies, it means the end of Kira. Light believes that only he could rule properly as Kira, and that his demise will spell the end for all he has worked for. Light seeks the one thing that has elluded all humans throughout the centuries, and will attempt to gain it at any cost.

Immortality.

If Light could live forever, then Kira will live forever. He could truly become a God, and guide this world into a new era, along with destroying any other distractions that may come his way. All his quests to find the key to immortality have ended in failure, however. It seems as if this will be one battle Kira will not win in the end.

Then Shinigami Ryuk steps in.

Thanks to a bet made between the Shinigami King and Ryuk, Ryuk offers Light the key to living forever. However, he must fight for it. Via the bet made with the Shinigami King, Light shall be taken to a new world similar to his own. There, he must battle all who stand in his way and become God of that world as well. Then, and only then will he be able to achieve immortality, and rule over both worlds. His restored youth, knowledge of future events that may still happen, and his superior intellect will be the weapons Light shall use in this new world to battle for supremency. However, he does not have the aid of the Death Note this time. At least, not yet.

The wolrd in which Light now resides in is having its own battle between a Kira and a L, both of whom are still unknown to Yagami. However, he will not let this stop him. With immortality as the prize, Light shall do whatever it takes to come out on top. He will kill both this world's Kira and L, and reign over it.

Will he succeed without the aid of the Death Note? Facing L, Kira, and any other threats alone may be too much for even Light. However, Light may find allies in people he would not suspect. The dice is thrown; and the game begins. Who shall win in the end? At this point, no one knows.

Restrictions: Cannot be a one-shot, unless it's a lengthy one-shot. No yaoi please, but other pairings are up for the author to decide. Kira and L must be Canon characters, though I don't want the Other!L to be our L Lawliet, if at all possible. The roles of Death Note's other various characters are also up for the author to decide. Oh, and Light cannot use the Death Note in the fic, at least until toward the end. Until that point, he can only use his looks and intellect to advance. The highest rating must be at least PG-13 or T. That's about it.
