In case you can't read, this is a chat thread. Where you chat. |

Kore-of-MythOoh! Chat is fun! Hiya Wotcher and Smarty! | #2 Jul 08th 2008, 11:01am
SMARTALIENQTHi Kore! Having fun? |
Kore-of-MythYep! I'm nearly done with this dark oneshot for Labyrinth... I don't think that was what you were talking about. Where's Wotcher? Why didn't she tell me she created a forum sooner? I would have been here in an instant! This place is pretty neat - I've been neading a good discussion/rant/debate... |
SMARTALIENQTI don't know where Wotcher is. I do know that she advertised it on WA, but I don't know why she didn't tell you. It is neat, isn't it? Pairings rule! |
Kore-of-MythYeah it is. Pairings definitely do. Do you know some people seriously ship x-over pairings? Like Jack/Hermione (from Pirates)! How weird is that? |
Wotcher-TonksHi. Been busy lately, guys. And I have seen some Jack/Harry. Not against slash, don't get me wrong, but that's so....so.....weird. Can you picture Harry with an eyepatch and Hedwig on his shoulder? | #7 Jul 08th 2008, 3:57pm . Edited Jul 08th 2008, 5:16pm
Kore-of-MythSurprisingly - yes, I can. I don't mind slash either. It's just not my pairing of choice. I tend to go for Het or Femmeslash...I like menage a trois when done well as well and focussing on relationships instead of carnality. |
Wotcher-TonksHave you ever seen the Draco/Ginny/Blaise stuff? There's tons of it. I mean, where did that come from? |
Kore-of-MythNo I haven't...I can almost see where that comes from. Got any recs? I may have to check that out... | #10 Jul 08th 2008, 5:33pm

Wotcher-Tonksgot to go for the night...I'm a night owl but my parents are not... it's normal for me to go to bed at one or two am. :D and I have writing to do...since I have OCD (OBSESSIVE CHALLENGE DISORDER) heehee | #11 Jul 08th 2008, 7:35pm . Edited Jul 08th 2008, 7:36pm

SMARTALIENQTWell, I may be a night owl, but this is ridiculous! It's already 4:03 AM here!! Maybe it's the heat... or the large hornet in my room, probably escaping from the heat... | #12 Jul 09th 2008, 1:04am

Wotcher-Tonksaww, so you got it. I shouldn't be on during thunder...so I'll be going, but doesn't the shield look awesome? You know, Kore, I think it's your color. Those shields look good with every outfit, omg! :D. | #18 Jul 09th 2008, 1:39pm
Kore-of-MythOh yes, very stylish! ;) | #19 Jul 09th 2008, 4:30pm

Kore-of-MythHey look my shield goes with this avvie too! --- Please tell me someone here knows of Labyrinth... | #20 Jul 18th 2008, 6:49pm
SMARTALIENQTI've never seen it, but is that Pan? Or that guy everyone drools over? I'm thinking of changing my avvie to either Ralf's evil flamer twin, back to Ralf, or taking a page out of Lady's book and using one of the "150 Things I'm Not Allowed To Do At Hogwarts" avvies. | #21 Jul 18th 2008, 6:52pm
Kore-of-MythPan? You mean 'Pan's Labyrinth'? No, that's an entirely different movie...this is Jareth the Goblin King played by David Bowie in the 1986 film Labyrinth. Linkage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labyrinth_(film) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091369/ Also, it's my favorite fandom. :D Yes, surprising isn't it that it isn't HP... Who's Ralf? | #22 Jul 18th 2008, 6:57pm
SMARTALIENQTDavid Bowie was "the guy everyone drools over", sorry. I've never seen Pan's Labyrinth, or Labyrinth, sadly enough. Ralf's my plot bunny, the one with horns. | #23 Jul 18th 2008, 8:40pm

Wotcher-Tonks*hugs back* and I finally got inspiration for chapter four of Golden Crescendo, but it's going to take my original plan for romantic fluff way down a different road-action/adventure/romance, so I'm scared!!! :O | #27 Jul 22nd 2008, 10:44am

Kore-of-MythYOU SHALL BE CONVERTED TO A LABYFAN!!! -- I found links the other day to watch it online if you'd like... | #30 Jul 22nd 2008, 4:43pm
Wotcher-TonksI think I'll rent it though. I have this weird thing where if I don't have subtitles on, I miss all the funny parts. Hey, you're doing NaNoWriMo? I'm thinking about doing it-I got a profile on there about two weeks ago. Fanfic counts, right? To me, Fanfic is both easier and harder than original fiction. Easy-building on someone else's foundation, and Hard-keeping everything canon. | #31 Jul 22nd 2008, 5:06pm
Kore-of-MythYou're doing Nano too? Fanfic is allowed - I'm doing a Laby/Phantom fanfic. I just started my notes. I've got a million OC's and since they all are 'reflections' it's hard to keep track of who is who. I may have to start a specific notebook for this... What name are you under over there? Smarty - are you doing NaNo? | #32 Jul 22nd 2008, 6:22pm
Wotcher-TonksI'm not sure if I am-I'll be crazy busy with marching band-, but I'm under WotcherTonks, and I added you there. :D. | #33 Jul 22nd 2008, 7:05pm

SMARTALIENQTI didn't know it was on! Great, this gives me an excuse to be on the computer all day- "But Mom, it's NaNo!" I have a novel (OF, not fanfic) that I'm going to try to write. I'll have to tell Meeko.... | #34 Jul 23rd 2008, 7:12am

SMARTALIENQTHmm...I dunno. How into the writing thing is she? Not a lot at all. There's an August one if you need an excuse...have you done this before?Ooh, my birthday... no. But I will do it - my mom's been trying to get me to finish for ages.| #38 Jul 23rd 2008, 7:51pm

Kore-of-Mythdone and reviewed. :) | #41 Jul 24th 2008, 6:53am

Wotcher-Tonksthanks-I'm so nervous about it because I always just wrote either fluff or angst, and this story is going to have an actual plot! Like, adventure... thanks for reviewing Kore! Ok, so here's what I'm thinking *lowers voice to conspiratorial whisper* Teddy is having visions on the where-abouts of Death Eaters who escaped. I haven't quite worked out why, but it's going to have something to do with his parent's powers. *switches back to normal voice* So, you get the scoop! Something else I wanted to ask. You know how you see terribly written fics with spelling, grammar, and canon errors all over them? Normally I won't even read those, but yesterday I reviewed one and painstakingly pointed out every single error and it's correction. And I felt really good, knowing that instead of reviewing and saying that it was atrocious, like I normally do, I actually attempted to fix it. It really could be an interesting fic, but the errors distracted from the plot, so I felt really helpful when I corrected it. I really want to beta for fics like that, to get a fic on DOCX and fix everything. I think I'm going to offer to beta for this person, even though I don't like most songfics. Just to make ff.net a better place. And if she reads this, I sincerely hope she's not offended, because I don't want to offend anybody. I just want to help this site! Ok. I wrote a novel length post, and I'm finally done. :D | #42 Jul 24th 2008, 12:02pm . Edited Jul 24th 2008, 12:11pm

Kore-of-MythNo prob Wotcher. *to low voice* Sounds good to me. That's a good theory that his magic is different 'cause of his parents! *back to normal* That's a great idea Wotcher, but as someone who's on the opposite side of that spectrum - who's done exactly that and is doing it now, let me tell you something. Don't do it unless you love that person's story. Absolutely don't. I read and reviewed this story by a girl, and let me tell you - it isn't normally the plot I go for. It was about suicide and then had the traditional 'healing you' plot. The fic was written horribly. Spelling and grammatical errors galor. Typos. Formatting. Horrible A/N's. Formatting was wonky. Sentence structure was non-existent. I went and reviewed suggesting for her to fix her story up, and listing a few things she could do. Then I added at the end 'Feel free to contact by way of my profile if you'd like help!" I'd done this for several people and hadn't heard back. This girl, I did hear back from, and I went through four chapters, which I nearly rewrote with her, and two chapters of her 'rewrite'. I don't think I'd do that again. I feel almost like I'm the one writing it, and it's not my story. It's a story I wouldn't dream about writing, yet I'm now a 'ghostwriter' practically, rewording her things. Alright, I'm exaggerating a bit, but really take my advice. Hop right on if you're interested in the story, and you don't mind the amount of time you'll spend, and you think the writer is receptive to your help. Try and help her become a good author, and if you can avoid having to rewrite their story. And stay away from the M-Sues. There's no hope for them! | #43 Jul 24th 2008, 12:14pm

Wotcher-TonksWell said. Thanks. I did PM the author, advising her to get a beta. I told her that I would do it, if she couldn't find one. Someone actually requested me as a beta the other day, and I nearly keeled over in shock. However, their story was already great, so I didn't really know what I was actually betaing there. And, I'm going to be doing marching band practice from 8am-8pm all august, so writing and betaing is going to limited. That's partly why I'm rushing to get this forum off the ground before I am going to be pretty much absent during August. Also, I'm going to be busy with school. My freshman year in high school, and I can't just scrape by like I did last year in Algebra. This year, it will be on my transcript. *the horror!* But, if I get good grades, I'm getting a laptop next year, which means I'll be able to write without assorted family members looking at me oddly when I spend two hours reading fanfiction. :D So, yeah. I'll be on, just not as much as this summer. I think you guys will understand though, because I think we are all high schoolers, but I'm not asking or telling much because this is the internet. :D Wow, another long post. If only I could write this much on my stories! | #44 Jul 24th 2008, 12:41pm

Kore-of-MythGlad I could help. Sorta. Not really. Anyway... I beta for this author who is AWESOME! She is like one of the most popular authors in the Labyrinth fandom, and I was one of her earliest readers. I found a couple of mistakes every 2-3 chapters, and let her know, 'cause that's what you do, right? She then asked me to be her beta! It's hard because I'm a bit of a fangirl when I review, yet i"m supposed to be proffesional (mostly) while beta-ing. Age - not mentioning. :P And work/school/RL can be brutal in taking away writing time. That reminds me...Got to go and finish up the next chapter of something! | #45 Jul 24th 2008, 12:59pm
Wotcher-Tonksyeah, don't worry, I'm just mentioning that I'm a freshman. I'm not going to ask for your credit card number or anything like that. :D So glad I made friends on here, you know. I felt kind of like a tag-along in the Reviews Lounge, but here I am the master. mwahahaha...seriously though. thanks, guys. so, Kore, how about that social security number..... :D just kidding! | #46 Jul 24th 2008, 1:05pm

Wotcher-TonksI was staring at my computer screen for a little while, trying to figure out what RL meant. Then I realized. Real Life. Duh, Wotcher. Sometimes, I'm kind of stupid....:) | #47 Jul 24th 2008, 1:06pm
Kore-of-MythIt took me awhile to figure out what RL meant too. Yeah, over on the Reviews Lounge I don't really feel like I *belong* there. Or at many of the forums. This one, HPFC, and the Spam thread at The Plot Bunny Adoption Center are pretty much it. Oh, and my forum for the exchange. Hehe. How did I forget that? | #48 Jul 24th 2008, 1:10pm
