Blu RoseTopic: Are my OCs good? I have a story called "Demon's Heart, Human's Soul" and I was wondering if the OCs I made were good. Can anyone tell me if they're good or do they suck? |

AurorawhisperwindYes, you do have an interesting story there... no you haven't written Mary-sue's. They have a personality, which is woefully lacking in most cases. Continue!| #2 Apr 20th 2006, 10:03pm

hajimenokizuI have a fic here in ff.net called Leaving Edo, story prior to the RK timeline about Saitou's past. I wrote it a while ago and was my longest fic ever. The problem was I had no idea what Mary Sue was until I got somewhere deeper into the story. Basically not a lot was known about the Shinsengumi back then so I created a world with Shinsengumi members and had this character named "Midori". Upon reading an article on Mary Sue, I realized I had used an online name of mine for this character and for the most part, she was a nice person. Although I can assure you, I didn't model her after myself, but still... That made me so uncomfortable, especially since it was a love story between Saitou and her (LOL!)... I didn't make her perfect, at least I thought I didn't and not everyone (especially Hijikata) liked her. She had a weird suicidal thing going on.. *sweatdrop* I don't know. Anyway, I just decided to continue the fic and tried to avoid Mary Sue consciously. By the end, I did kill her but I think that was mostly because I was stuck on having to conform to history and have Saitou end up with Tokio (way past those tendencies now). I just wish I can really tell how Mary Sue'sh this character "Midori" was because to be honest I really liked the fic because a lot of it was made up and it gave me an opportunity to grow a little writing wise. ^__^* I'm not really sure if I posted this in the correct place. I apologize if it's in the wrong place. Please amend as necessary. | #3 Apr 22nd 2006, 3:59am . Edited Apr 22nd 2006, 4:05am
