Well, this is a first. I've been on ffn for nearly two years and never yet on a forum. Fun for all! I shall miss fanlib's colors and lovely pix, however.

Hey MLT26 here, or Dodobird whatever you want to call me.

Here is my page. I already put up my story You Found Me from fanlib.

Hey! I'm Zahirra, I was just about to join FanLib when I read that it's going to shut TODAY! :(

Well anyway, I LOVE the L Word, and I'm currently working on a Shane/Carmen fic...

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1219305/

so any L word fans, I'd appreciate if you read & review! :)

TheSwedishMystery

Great idea with a Fanlib forum here :)

Hullo everybody. I was The Swedish Mystery on Fanlib and I use the same name here. Cool to see so many of you Fanlibbers here on ff.net - in a way I must admit that I find reading fanfic here easier than on Fanlib with all the pages and stuff. Hope to read more of your stuff soon (after my big deadline at work).

So, I'm back to say hi again. I feel lost hahaha :( . But could someone help me with something? I'm trying to put up my stories, and I've noticed something very annoying...It repeats the first sentence! Gah! Why is this? :(

You're not doing anything wrong, it's a glitch that has been happening here for a few months now. The bad thing is, you can't see it on the edit doc until after you post. Grrr...it's a simple fix though. Go back to the document and you will then see it. Take the sentence out, save it, then go back to the stories, click on that story, click on the chapters thing, and go down to the bottom and do the replace chapter feature. Just replace the bad chapter one, for instance, with the chapter one in your docs.

Ah, thank you! Something like that drives me insane. :( But I'm slowly going back to fix them now!

What happens with me, usually, is that the title of my story repeats because I usually have that as the first line of the text. Although, I usually see this glitch the first thing after I save a document for the first time and I remove it then--before I submit the document for the story.

This glitch, though, is a lot less burdensome than some earlier HTML glitches I used to have in the past when uploading documents. And, at that past time, you had to go into the HTML version of your story and re-write the code to make the fixes. That problem seems to have gone away, thank God. The repeat first line is nothing compared to those past formatting problems.

Urk. That sounds horribly bothersome.

FFN submitting is a lot better than it used to be though. Usually the problems I have now are my own typos.

Haha, and those are easily fixed. I think I'm getting the hang of ff.net though. I just found out how to access my reviews XD

But even though the move was rushed, with all you guys here I'm starting to feel right at home again! :D

Hi there! I'm still sad about Fanlib too. However, bunch of us have migrated to a brand new site called FanNation. If you're looking for a site that is close to Fanlib, it's the site to go to. http://fannation.shades-of-moonlight.com/archive/index.php

Hi, and Happy New Year. We all miss FanLib, I think.

You will find, though, that a lot of us former FanLibbers are hanging out at the new website FanNation. Two former FanLib members, Misskitten and Thedaringhattrick, formed this site and have tried to make is as much as possible like FanLib, including having a great discussion forum.

http://fannation.shades-of-moonlight.com/archive/index.php

That's the url for the main story archive. Because of the site setup, you have to register separately for the forums. Hope to see you there.

Happy New Year to everyone. I've learned so much about many sites since fanlib closed, as shown on this profile:

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1167243/

Since I write mainly Star Wars, I'd like to find a site where Padme's accented name is not such a pain to format, ha! Not one of those sites mentioned keeps the accent aigu. But each site has its pluses and some are remarkably easy to use. The thing I miss about fanlib the most were the lovely graphics to fit each mood of story. They're not anyplace else that I know of.

Toodles, pronker

Hi,

I'm not sure exactly how many former FanLib members are on FanNation--certainly more than 100 though. Some of the more recent new members to FanNation are from other places than FanLib. Anyone is welcome to join, even if the first members of FanNation were all former members of FanLib. FanNation is a lot smaller than FFN or FanLib, but it's only been around since the end of August and I personally find FanNation a fun place.

Pronker, are you using the alt characters? I find that they're usable just about everywhere, including FanNation.

Tikatu, thanks for any hint. I know only the #232 code for the accent aigu re Padme.

#172 Jan 01st, 6:00pm
Tikatu

For an "e" with an accent acute (the French make it sound like "aigu") is Alt130 = é (hold down the Alt key, then type in 130, and let the Alt key up. The character will then appear.). For an uppercase E, try Alt144 = É.

I have a list of the characters in .rft and .doc, but it's not complete. You can find a complete list here: http:// www. yellowpipe. com/ yis/ tools/ ALT-Characters/ (take out the spaces).

I've used the é and the ç so much that I know their numbers by heart.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, Tikatu. The martial art SW-style teras kasi is another one, both a's have umlauts and I shall certainly look up these shortcuts. pronker

I wonder How many refuges there are. That have not came here.

Quite a few I'd say. Most Fanlibbers scattered to many different sites. A lot went to Myfandoms.com where the younger ones have stayed because they like the ability to personalise the home page. Some went to Webjam, others to Live Journal, and many places inbetween.

I agree with most here: I still miss Fanlib.

What I've been up to: Collaborating with the G10 Writers (we met during Fanlib's KvP contest in 2007). G10 Writers have completed two books now available on Amazon: The Artifact and Keys, Unlocking the Universe. We're currently laying plans for our biggest project yet, a Sci-fi saga.

Who is G10? Some of you may remember TDC (Thedreamcontinued), Whigworld, Esr960, Shranman, DGTrekker, CValin, Moonunit, Tribblemaker, and Lelia_data. Together, we make up the G10 Writers.

During the last part of 2008 I took a short break from fan writing to concentrate on other projects. I hope to be back on the forums more in 2009.

Hugs and a Happy New Year to all!
