Topic: FanNation

FanNation is getting ready to open its doors, possibly as soon as this Friday. What is FanNation? It is site set up by former fanlibbers misskitten and thedaringhattrick to be as close as possible to what we all loved about Fanlib. It has a nice archive, it has a profile page that lists the number of comments given and received and by clicking on that, you can read them too. There is an author reply button that posts the reply right there with the comment. There is a rating system. It has skins that can be changed! Anime fans, you have an anime skin, sci-fi fans? A sci-fi skin. There is a classy original skin and a fantastic TV skin, with more in the works. (movie, book, teen, etc) It has a fantastic looking forum that is modeled after the Fanlib one. It's even set up in the same order, pretty much. It has the usual fun threads too! Also included, is the Critique Thread and the Review Exchange section. There's Writing Help, My Fan Creations and more! You get to have avatars and signature badges. I made mine link to my profile. I love the ability to link an awesome banner in the siggy to your profile page or a story, and think it will make it just as nice as Fanlib. Uploading was pretty simple, or you can copy or paste if that is your thing. We've been busy this last week uploading stuff to try and find the bugs and create tutorials. I know people are getting tired of moving their stuff, but I hope you all will give FanNation a look see. I'll post the url when I get the okay. I can't wait

Oh sweet deal! I've had that site saved in my bookmarks waiting for the day it opens! You can bet I'll be there with much cake and caffeine for the opening day! XD

That's great, Maryilee. I've posted your message on my blog at Webjam.com...just in case there's someone there who doesn't visit the usual sites.

I thought I replied to this, but I think I got distracted. lol. Anyway, thanks for spreading the word, Caz. I worked long hours the previous two days and I don't get webjam at work. (or this one, for that matter). I think we have about the same people on our friends list there, so I won't duplicate the blog.

I can't wait. Myfandoms is good to use to keep in touch with former FanLib friends, but as a fanfic archive, it leaves much to be desired in my opinion. From what I've seen, FanNation will be a much better archive and have better forums. It will probably be the closest to FanLib that we can get.

I'm really impressed with the amount of work misskitten and friends went to in getting FanNation set up.

Thanks, Beth
