Cuban Sombrero GalTopic: Story of the Day
We tried something similar on the original RL forum, but I've adapted a bit for this one. Basically, each day, someone will post a story from the Reviews Lounge archive that they think is worthy of more reviews. Everyone is encouraged to then review the story, and discuss it here if they wish. However, off-topic conversations don't count, and will be deleted by a mod. We're hoping this will run for the summer months at least, while people (hopefully) have more time to read & review -- it only takes five minutes, and I'm sure the author will appreciate it a lot. The Roster: Monday: Tuesday: Cuba Wednesday: Thursday: Friday: |
TheWordFountainTurtle's coming back today. :D |
Cuban Sombrero GalAwesome. :D Today's story is Empty Chairs and Empty Tables, by Just a Supergirl. It only needs four reviews to graduate. Summary: Astoria never did like her sister. |
starcrossedvoyagerGreat choice, Cubie!! ^^ |
TheWordFountain:D Reviewed. |
QueenArianaI have a question, with the story, can it be about any HP carachter, are there any requirements, like ratings to be aware of? |
Wendy BruneAlso reviewed - this was refreshing! |
TheWordFountainI have a question, with the story, can it be about any HP carachter, are there any requirements, like ratings to be aware of? The story of the day has to be from The Reviews Lounge Archive. That's the only requirement. But, uh, why exactly do you need to know, Dejsha? |
QueenArianaWell, if in any of the rounds (if this has another turn and or if I have a day in this one) I know what kinda story to put up. Also for when I review. |
Dramione ForeverI reviewed today's story, it was a beautiful piece of writing!. |
starcrossedvoyagerThat's great, guys!! The story can now graduate - keep reviewing, though! ^^ |
TheWordFountainWell, if in any of the rounds (if this has another turn and or if I have a day in this one) I know what kinda story to put up. Also for when I review. Oh, these sign-ups are for all the rounds. The only time we'll need someone else to pick a story is when someone is covering for someone else. |
TheWordFountainHey, Turtle is on a cell phone and just told me that she wants to claim the Friday spot, so I'm going to go ahead and put her name in. |
I Dance AloneReviewed "Empty Chairs and Empty Tables." That is a wonderful story! |
TheWordFountainT.T This is late. (Is horrible chore-addicted person.) Today's story is: Roses for Rose. |
-EHWIESI didn't review Empty Chairs and Empty Tables yesterday (I already had earlier), but I just read and reviewed Roses for Rose. The grammar needs a little cleaning up, but I really like the concept-- it's definitely worth a look! |
Wendy BruneI've already reviewed this one, but I like the choice. Although I agree with -EHWIES about the grammar, the concept is very original! Good choice! |
Dramione ForeverI reviewed Roses for Rose, beautiful piece of writing. |
starcrossedvoyagerHoly crap, I almost cried. And I don't even read next-gen. |
starcrossedvoyagerToday's story is Melodrama, written by our very own Bonnie ^^ |
Dramione ForeverI reviewed Melodrama by Bonni. Beautiful Piece. I loved it. |
-EHWIESRead, reviewed, and adored Melodrama. |
Wendy BruneAnother really good choice - I really enjoyed this one! |
TheWordFountain:) SCV! You picked a really, really good piece. :D |
bonniedollWhy is it the ones I hate the most are the ones that get the appreciation? ^^ Thanks though! =D |
starcrossedvoyagerCovering for Katy today, since she's away this week! Today's story is Beautiful Boy, by Kitty East. | #26 Jul 16th, 4:38am . Edited Jul 16th, 4:38am
-EHWIESI already reviewed this one a few weeks back, but I highly recommend it--it's fabulous. |
bookwormofmassiveproportionsAgreed, it's sweet and brilliant! So read it. |
selenehekateKitty East is a great author... |
Dramione ForeverI reviewed Beautiful Boy by Kitty East. Another Beautiful piece. | #30 Jul 16th, 5:50pm . Edited Jul 16th, 5:51pm

Cuban Sombrero GalJust posting a day early because I have to work tomorrow night... A New Kind of Terror, by Elledreamer. AU. The war was lost, and now the terror has begun... Written for the 'What If' Challenge on HPFC It needs 9 reviews. |
Anachronistic AnglophileReviewed A New Kind of Terror, and Kitty East's story. Both were great. |
FirstYearI read and reviewed this a while ago and am disappointed that it has not get made the magic 20 reviews. It should have 50. A different style and format make this very readable. Even if it is not something your normally read, or are put off by the length you owe it to yourself to give it a try. It is one of those stories that you will remember. Not cute, not fluffy, not a piece of whimsy... A New Kind of Terror |
Bad MumToday's story: Five_Things_That_Never_Happened_to_Fabian_Prewett by Lucie - or Lux Take a look, even if you don't normally read First Order stories. This one gives a real feel of the atmosphere of fear they were living underr, and the characterisations of Fabian and Gideon and the cameos of better-known characters are spot-on. | #37 Jul 23rd, 1:13am . Edited Jul 23rd, 1:14am
I Dance AloneRead and reviewed (: |
FirstYearOkay... because no one is jumping in to do this.... Eleven Years Later because it is close and I have not read it. Edit of Edit... okay, so I did read it, but didn't finish it because it is not completed... so I guess read at your own risk. Someone else really needs to keep this Story of the Day going, its a good idea... just beyond me. | #39 Jul 27th, 6:40pm . Edited Jul 27th, 6:53pm
Cuban Sombrero GalOkay then, today's story is Sunspots. It needs 9 reviews. |
Bad MumToday's story is And_the_battleflags_were_furld by silverbirch. Neville and Hannah after the war. Bleak, but with a note of hope, and beautifully written. Needs 7 reviews. |
TheWordFountainTuesday's Story: Sketchbook Drawing by painted.inkblot. Enjoy! |
bookwormofmassiveproportionsAm I allowed to make a suggestion? *peers around nervously* Oookay, I'm going to do it. Shine On by Jay Marthow rocks. So it be recommended. By me. | #43 Aug 07th, 10:49am . Edited Aug 07th, 10:49am
Anachronistic AnglophileI went and reviewed all of the ones I hadn't reviewed since my last posting; some great stuff, really. |
TheWordFountainTuesday's Story: Dearest Friends. |
-EHWIESIf I may make a recommendation... make me yours. It's multi-chaptered, but the chapters are short (less than 1000 words each--the whole story is only 7000 words). |
Cuban Sombrero GalI'll make one for today - I had to work on Monday, which is why I missed it. :( You look mighty like that Muggle - it's three chapters long, but it's one of those stories that just draws you in until you can't stop reading. And, it only needs 4 more reviews. |
Bad MumResurrecting this thread again! Because_of_You by Sandshrew 777 31 chapters which isn't as daunting as it sounds as they are all oneshots based on lines from Kelly Clarkson's "Because of you". You can read each chapter independently. (I have yet to read them all myself, but they are well worth a look.) |
TheWordFountainTuesday's Story of the Day. And the battleflags were furl'd. It only needs one more review, but I truly think that this piece should be read by everyone. It's a take on Neville after the war that I never anticipated. |
TheWordFountainAll right, so I figure we need a nice, lighthearted story to look at. Therefore: The Trials and Tribulations of a Hogwarts Squid. So far, one intro and six chapters. :) Enjoy! |
