I'm really behind too, because I had drama every night until at least nine, but drama's over now, and I think I can manage to catch up if I really try.

How far behind are you, Wendy?

I just realized I forgot to watch Eastwick this week.

#2302 Nov 08th, 2:04pm
TheWordFountain

I watched it last night, it's pretty good. Actually just as good as all the others, which is really good.

But Turtle hasn't watched it either. She depends on Hulu too much. :D

Do you mind telling us what your novel entails? I'm sure it's like, amazing. :D

haha, i appreciate the vote of confidence, Wordy. ;D we'll see!

i've had the characters ready for this (and the one i started last year & have backburned self) planned for SUCH a long time, and it's semi-plotted~ giving myself some freedom but trying to keep me from going off the tracks in interesting-but-plot-destroying-directions, which I oh-so-often-do (story of my first fanfiction story ever, a loooooong time ago and far away and under the penname of my friend since in early high school, no home internet ;P i kind of accidentally killed Fred... a good few years before J.K. did, haha... and then the story went into suspended animation, probably forever at this point).

the plot centers around two girls, Livvy Wright & the very imaginative June Phillips, who were neighbors and BFFs since they were in play groups till they were about 7 and 8 respectively, and June's family moved, just across town, but other than a few weak get-togethers over the years, that was about the end of the friendship. at least from Livvy's end... Livvy's a senior in high school, dealing with applications & with no real ambition or idea what she wants to do except keep running cross-country, her "senior year boyfriend," having to chaffeur her brother Colby everywhere, when one morning, the very start of the story, she sees this guy, about her age, hanging about June's old house. He calls to her, talks like he knew her when they were kids, says his name's Mack, and that he thinks she'll be able to tell him what to do, because June's dead. Livvy's freaked but dismisses him as crazy... until she finds out later that day that June, the old friend who would be a stranger now and who she hasn't thought about in years, did die, and it looks like she jumped.

So Livvy ends up dragging her high school friends into an investigation of who, exactly, June became, including, I think, a road trip to the college June had just started at, and meanwhile, keeps dealing with Mack, who keeps popping up at strange times and disappears just as quickly and seems to have perfect recollection of childhood events Livvy remembers hazily... but which she *definitely* doesn't remember blue-eyed Mack featuring in. at all. so it's also a question of how he figures into this and just what, exactly, he is.

(For the record, spoiler: not a vampire ;) or of that ilk, exactly. and while this is a story with Livvy & Mack... the one thing it's absolutely not is heading in a Livvy/Mack direction.)

what's everyone else plotting? Wordy? Wendy?

Oh my gosh. It sounds so good! I'm definitely jealous. I wanna read it.

Get it published!!!

And uh, okay, I'm going to have to type up my plot in a different post, but give me about ten minutes to do it. Haha.

Lol, you guys! I... feel pathetic and sappy and not very productive.

And it's almost dark out already. It's not even 4:30. I hate winter.

#2306 Nov 08th, 2:26pm

Actually, I'm just going to c/p my synopsis so far: Lori, a simple girl with no father, a missing mother, and sick twin brothers, has found that life is not fair. People all throughout the world she knows are getting sick and, after a few weeks, disappear. Her mother was one of those people, and soon her brothers will be. There is no way to stop this strange series of events, but suddenly, Lori finds herself sucked into a secret society that knows more than Lori could have ever dreamed. She, for the sake of her family and the wish of someone she barely knows, will become a tool to save the world.

It's really vague, I suppose, considering there is a LOT more information as to the world (it's sci-fi) and stuff, but yeah. That's the gist.

sounds sweet!! so is this another world entirely or an apocalyptical-future-type-world?

#2308 Nov 08th, 2:43pm
TheWordFountain

Well, okay, I probably should've said fantasy instead because it's got sorta an Eragon feel to it, plus it's got elves and dwarves, but instead of having like magic and crap, it's more science-based. It's really hard to explain haha.

#2309 Nov 08th, 2:44pm
lyin'

sounds like a nice genre combination though :D

actually, after an extra second's thought, more original than Eragon ~ i don't know that i've ever read anything where elves and dwarves coexist (or even use) science or technology. there was this one thing that had fantasy and technology that i read, but it was more an excuse to plop lightsaber type swords in a fantasy setting lol

You think so? I think it'll probably turn out really bad, but I'm going for it. Haha.

#2311 Nov 08th, 2:47pm
lyin'

i doubt it'll be bad! i think getting it written really is everything- and where i fail most often, i have all kinds of IDEAS but they never actually get on paper. even if it didn't turn out the way you wanted, yet, you'll have something to work with and edit, or, if by the end, since your writing will have grown (i think mine always does when i write at length), your skills are then that much more in place if you start parts of it over. so definitely, definitely go for it! just from the sound of it i'd look forward to reading it, for one :)

I feel the same way. When I wrote my WIP (that is discontinued) I got so much better as I went on. It was really nice, although the story is absolutely appalling. And thanks, I hope it'll be really good after it's been edited. haha.

#2313 Nov 08th, 2:59pm
lyin'

oh discontinued WIPs. ;D i have so many, though far too many were discontinued after page 1! but i still have a big white binder filled with three hundred-odd pages of notebook paper, filled up from corner to corner with my atrocious handwriting, which i carted around from 6th grade almost till the end of freshman year, writing endlessly in... around the end of freshman year i tried fixing up the start of the story which had gone in a wildly different direction, and into distinctly better writing, at least comparatively, and gave up, because it was HOPELESS, i had shamelessly and unwittingly taken bits and pieces from everything i liked (X-men, Harry Potter, Charmed ~ i even had three sisters, not the main characters, whose names started with the same letter, though it was 'K', not 'P', then later the Tamora Pierce books, and on, and on... I refused to recognize it at the time, since I think my mom tried to point it out to me back when I was 11-12, but yeah, would not let go of it till I was nearly 15. i thought my twists on it were SO original.)

i went through it a couple years ago, and oh, my god, there is not one good, memorable line of dialogue or interesting turn of phrase or fresh description. not that i'm ever going to get rid of it. it made me better. and fanfiction, along with many other things, has been great training in writing improvement, especially since i take my fanfic feedback very much to heart~ i'll often go and make an edit because of it. mostly, since 15, outside of creative writing class and other work-with-a-deadline, which has mostly been short stories and one novella for my final project in NYS History, i really haven't done much sustained, original writing... so i've been trying to really change that in this past year, and especially now

#2314 Nov 08th, 3:13pm
TheWordFountain

Yeah, I think I'm still a rip-off writer, but I'll get better. I mean, just a few months in AP english and I can already tell I'm getting better haha. :)

#2322 Nov 08th, 6:38pm

I have yet to start today's 2,047 words, but I will as soon as I finish this french project and start my laundry.

And eat two brownies. :S

Haha, nice. :D

#2324 Nov 08th, 6:48pm

Yeah, the only problem is that I've kinda stopped working on my project. I'm just kinda hanging with the Biggest Loser on and thinking about those two brownies.

Oh, the irony...

The Awkward Turtle

WORK ON THAT DANG PROJECT. GET IT DONE NOW.

#2326 Nov 08th, 6:50pm
TheWordFountain

:( I will now, but I feel bad for Cousin. He was talking to me and I was just like "Sry, g2g bye!" and left him.

He called it a "Classic [Wordy]" which made me feel SUPER bad.

Aww, man. How could he say that? You've been there for him loads of times. You're busy and you need to finish a project. Case closed.

#2328 Nov 08th, 6:59pm
TheWordFountain

Yeah...You're right! I have been there for him loads! Especially when I didn't want to be. It's high time I started talking to who I wanted to when I wanted to and had the time to.

Yeah. Okay! Pshaw.

#2329 Nov 08th, 7:01pm
The Awkward Turtle

LOL. Way to stand up for yourself, Wordy! lulz.

How's that French project?

#2330 Nov 08th, 7:05pm
TheWordFountain

Going somewhere...sorta.

I just have to finish the Passe Compose part, and then I'll print this out and paste it in my book.

And then I'll have to start on the Imparfait part of the book....

You remember that MLIA or whatever that said their uncle was one of the original creators of the power rangers? I wish I would figure something like that out.

Wouldn't it be cool if one of us was somehow related to someone of the HP cast? OMG LIKE EVANNA LYNCH. THAT'D BE SO SUPER COOL!!!

#2337 Nov 08th, 7:34pm
The Awkward Turtle

Lol, I think the only one I'd have a real chance at being related to is the Cho Chang girl. Her name eludes me.

#2338 Nov 08th, 7:45pm
TheWordFountain

No one knows her name unless they look it up.

Because most people don't like Cho.

#2339 Nov 08th, 7:50pm
The Awkward Turtle

Lol, I like her. I think she's kind of flaky and emotional, but I don't hate her for it.

#2340 Nov 08th, 7:53pm
TheWordFountain

I don't hate her either, but thinking about all the crap she did in the fifth book makes me angry and annoyed.

Wendy Brune

Wow, lyin', that sounds really interesting. You have to publish, because I want to read that.

what's everyone else plotting? Wordy? Wendy?

Ok, so mind is a TOTAL chick-lit book. Since it's my first time, I wanted to start out with something easy. Here's my synopsis: Courtney's on the fast track to her dream job as a national television sports reporter; all she has to do is survive a season covering the NASCAR circuit. Easier said than done, especially when NASCAR's it-driver and bad boy Brandon Bailey seems to enjoy nothing more than to make Courtney's job difficult. But when head executive of a powerful race team ends up dead in Bailey's trailer, Courtney can't keep her investigative nose from sniffing around. This just could be her big break, if she doesn't end up broken in the process.

Basically its one of those romance/murder mystery/would-make-a-great-chick-flick type of stories, LOL.

And lyin', I'm too lazy to go back and look at earlier post, but weren't you the one mentioning T. Swift on SNL? I looked it up on Hulu, and it was amazing; especially her monologue and the twilight parody.

((And Wordy: Parlez-vous francais?))

GO GO POWER RANGER!

I wanted to be the pink ranger when I grew up SO, so badly. ...of course I suppose I'm officially grown up now, at 21. very disappointed I was never chosen as a teenager with attitude and got morphing abilities and the whole lot ;D

and thanks, Wendy, glad to hear you'd be interested in my story from my summary! (if I can manage to actually write the whole thing, then I'll maybe try for publishing ;D) ~ if I read your synopsis on the back of a book, I would get it like that *snaps fingers for emphasis*~ I am such a sucker for chit lit of any kind (not to mention bad boys... I completely don't care if they're cliche), and murder mystery chit lit? my inner Nancy Drew wants to read it, stat. ;D

weren't you the one mentioning T. Swift on SNL?

that was me ;D glad you enjoyed it! i thought it was one of the best episodes so far this year, and I've been telling all my friends about "firelight" because I found it oh-so-entertaining. i love Hulu! it makes it so easy to catch up (particularly on Thursday night shows... why is everything good on Thurs. nights? now that Greek is gone, Monday nights are blah again... How I Met Your Mother is fantastic, but only half-an-hour. darn, I'm going to actually have to work on my thesis...)

#2346 Nov 09th, 5:37pm
TheWordFountain

Yes, Wendy, I do speak french...but not well.

And I think I always wanted to be the yellow power ranger. But then again, I think I might've wanted to be pink b/c my sister's favorite color was yellow, and she loved the yellow power ranger. I'm not really sure.

Hellz yeah for the pink power ranger. Kimberly!

Awh, and thanks lyin'. I think I've been reading a lot of murder/myster/chick-lit/romance lately, haha. It's seeped into my brain.
