Topic: Hoth

Hoth was the sixth planet of the remote Hoth system. A desolate world covered with ice and snow, located in the Anoat Sector, a rarely-traveled portion of the Outer Rim Territories.

Located on the fringe of the Ivax Nebula in the Anoat Sector of the Greater Javin along the Ison Corridor, Hoth orbited the blue-white star Hoth on a wide elliptical orbit.[source?] Beyond Hoth was a large asteroid belt, known as the Hoth Asteroid Field, from which small asteroids regularly broke off, crashing onto Hoth's surface as meteorites.

The planet consisted of a molten metallic core with dichotomous crust. Its surface was entirely covered by a frozen ocean, except where volcanic fissures opened up steam vents, depositing rock and minerals in darker patches on the glacier planes. A few mountain ranges pierced the permanent ice shelves, some being geologically active. The tidal pull of Hoth's three nameless moons caused fissures in the ice-layers, sending jets of ocean water into the freezing Hoth air. The intense cold froze these jets into spires of ice, suspending primitive ocean algae within these tall columns and glaciers. Massive oceanic currents beneath the southern hemisphere caused regular seismic activity, resulting in a constantly shifting landscape of caves and tunnels. Buried deep in Hoth's equatorial region was a fissure, reaching hundreds of meters towards the core of the planet. In this area never exposed to Hoth's blue-white sun was a cache of lumni-spice, a rare fungal growth.

Its orbit and axial tilt resulted in consistently icy weather patterns. Daytime temperatures reached levels unbearable to most species and rarely rose above freezing, even in the planet's relatively mild equatorial regions. The gale force winds and intense snowstorms that regularly wracked the windswept surface magnified the extreme cold of Hoth.

The frigid biosphere included a minimal food chain: the predator wampas, the omnivorous tauntauns, the herbivorous Hoth hogs, a few rodent species, including snowmice and ice scrabblers, and iceworms, lichens, and Dragon Slugs.

The average planetary temperature was around -61ºC; however at Echo Base, located near the planet's equator in the northern hemisphere, daytime temperatures could reach -32ºC; however night-time temperatures got as low as -60.

Hoth's existence was known throughout the galaxy as early as 4,000 BBY. The swamp wampas of Dromund Kaas were proven by scientists to be descended from the wampas of Hoth. It is possible that wampas were brought to Dromund Kaas during the New Sith Wars, though the truth remains a mystery.

The planet was not entirely unknown to the galaxy at large. The trans-system data storage library on the planet Halowan contained a substantial amount of information concerning the Hoth system and the planet's geography.

While still relatively unknown and rarely visited, Hoth was occasionally frequented by pirates and smugglers who took advantage of its remote location, using the ice planet as a base.

Echo Base, Jann

Jann stood pacing back and forth in her room, the last few days hadn't gone so well. She had lost 2 members in the last fight, the spoils had bin less then she had hoped which meant she couldn't send any back home, a few mechanical problems had to be taken care of and just today a few new recruits had to be put in there place. "I really hate my life today." She said with a sight as she slumped down in her chair.

The Shistavanen pirate sighed. Unfortunately what Jann also said was true.

"Good news is we have confirmation of a new supply convoy passing by within reasonable distance to our sector..... unfortunately it's a Republic Military convoy."

The Shivastaven ordered for communications to be sent out to notify the other fleets. They had a dangerous, but likely worthwhile, convoy to attack and they would need some powerful ordinance to subdue the hostiles.

"Shall we go to the map room and examine possible ambush points, Commander?"

Black Cat, Hoth System, Hoth, stationary orbit, Dooka

Staring out the window of the shuttle, Dooka studied the icy world of Hoth, slowly turning far below; a contrast to the black void around it and within herself. If the diminuitive Sith were capable of feeling sentimental, she might have found the scene relaxing. Going to the back of the shuttle, Dooka sat down cross-legged and closed her eyes, letting the dark side flow around her. To the Jedi it was abhorrent, but to the Sith it was like sinking into a hot bath.

((To Near: As a personal request could you have the shuttle Dooka's using crash or malfunction to where the navicomputer (at least the travel records) gets fried? We just don't want the bad guys knowing where the secret Jedi Main temple is or that it's on Ossus?))

(Request granted. Dooka is gonna have a hard time on Hoth, cause I don't think Jawas are very fond of cold.)

Black Cat, Hoth System, in orbit over Hoth, Dooka

A jarring thud roused Dooka from deep meditation. The Sith slowly stood, still a bit sore from being electrocuted, and walked over to the radar screen. Dooka almost committed harakiri at her own stupidity. She had forgotten that the Hoth System was often used as a hideout for smugglers and criminals...her kind of scum. Switching on the comm. system, Dooka spoke in Jawaese, which the computer translated into Basic: "Cease fire immediately. I wish to facilitate communications, and bring an end to hostilities (only because she's flying a puny little shuttle). You are most likely smugglers or criminals fleeing from the kriffing Republic. In that regard, we share a common enemy. Let me leave in one piece, and your location will remain a secret."

BOOM! Dooka was thrown face-first into the console, knocking her out. The shuttle Black Cat fell from orbit and eventually nose-dived into a snowdune, somewhere in the northern hemisphere. The shuttle would never operate again, and neither would her navicomputer, which shorted out on impact, erasing all data from the memory banks. A snowstorm rose up and buried all but the Black Cat's charred engines and the loading ramp. Dooka survived the crash, somehow, but she would awaken with a vicious headache, and see snow for the first time.

"If that is the case then there is a way to do that. There is a droid factory hidden on Tatooine and many other planets. The key lies in the offspring of a brave Jawa who's sacrifice was honored and the Valley of his death was named ofter him by the Jawas. The Valley of Kwyntehst. There you may search for his kin.... one of whom holds the key to finding this factory. With it you can retake your own planet and become the ruler of it all."

Black Cat, Hoth System, crashed on Hoth, Dooka

A Cheshire grin stretched across Dooka's rodent-like face, showing off many razor-sharp teeth. She steepled her gloved fingers, methodically tapping them together, and replied, "I do so, Sith-of-shadows. Dooka will take back Tatooine from tall folk, giants of sand, Hutts, all who defile Jawa's planet! Uncle Wittin be proud, wherever he be!" She looked around at the smoldering wreck that had once been a brand-new shuttle, "How I get off this planet?"

Surface of Hoth, Dooka

Lowering the shuttle's ramp, Dooka wrapped her cloak tighter around her and struck out across the icy wastes, a small black shape against pure whiteness. A heavy wind blew, stirring up huge clouds of loose snow. Despite her good eyesight, the Sith Lady could not quite make out what kind of ship had landed. She palmed her lightsaber, ready to use it if necessary (which to a Sith it always was).

Bisecting the remaining pirate, Dooka hooked her lightsaber to her belt and went over to the pilot's station. Studying the controls for a moment, the Sith lady figured them out. Dumping the shredded pirates out of the shuttle, Dooka lifted off. She managed to escape the wrath of the bigger ship and rocketed off into hyperspace, on course to Tatooine. She had a destiny to fulfill...and a planet to conquer.
