Topic: The Phoenix Fable Challenges!

Welcome once again to this new forum!

We're going to be using this part of the forum to post up the Phoenix Fable Challenges.

Basically, Phoenix Fable Challenges are challenges made up by Unleash the Shadow, SakariWolfe, and I that are designed to get your creative juices flowing, and most of all, to have fun!

You'll find that as we add more and more challenges that there are going to be different styles of challenges, but to start, we're going to give you guys a simple one ;)

Using the following Fall themed list of words, we'd like you to create a oneshot. If two chapters are needed, then that's fine as well. Maybe aim for under 5,000 words, but if you need more than that, I'm sure we'll be able to work something out.

1. Rake

2. Oak leaves

3. Red, orange, yellow, and brown.

4. Pumpkin Patch

5. Pheasant (SakariWolfe would prefer if you didn't refer to this bird in your story in the hunting sense, that adds to the challenge, non?)

6. Scarecrow

7. Thanksgiving

8. Trees

9. Dawn

10. Dusk

11. Harvest Moon

Alright, so now that you have your list of words, go crazy! Well, not really. We of course have a few rules for you guys as far as story writing goes, and these rules will apply to all other future challenges unless otherwise stated.

1. No swearing in your stories, or if you have to have profane language in your story, please keep it to the minimum if that's possible.

2. You can make your stories any kind of genre, humour, adventure, romance, etc, so feel free to throw in pairings to your story if you wish, but please avoid the slash sort of pairings if you can.... We respect your thoughts and ideas on this subject, so if you'd like to propose a rejection to this rule, please feel free to send any of us a personal message through the site.

3. Just so most everyone on the site can read / participate in these challenges and stories, please keep all of your stories to a 'T' rating and lower.

That's about it, and please, if you have any problems with these rules, don't throw your hands in the air and give up on this forum! We'd love to hear your thoughts if you send us a message :)

We don't want to purposely cramp anyone's style for these challenges, so let us know if we are.

When you post up your stories on the website, please let us know what the title is, and also, if you could just add the letters 'PFC#1' to the end of your summary to indicate this is your entry for Phoenix Fable Challenge #1, that'd be amazing! :D

So, that's about it! If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask us, or others participating in this forum. that said, you're welcome to use this section of the forum to brainstorm with others and swap ideas!

Good Luck with this Challenge!

Okay everyone! I hope you've been working away at this premier challenge!

We've come up with a few more details for you:

Due Date: (Alright, we should have had this up earlier, and we realize that, but here it is none the less!) Our preferred cut off date would be Tuesday, November the 25th. If you could get your entries posted by then, that would be amazing! If not, we'll be accepting late entries up until midnight on the following Friday which is November the 28th. If you guys have questions, or if these dues dates don't give you enough time to properly write your entry, please contact us here on the forum, or by sending any one of us a PM, thanks! ^.^

Judging: (How else do you expect us to choose a winner?) You'll be given a mark out of 30; 10 marks for grammar and spelling, 10 marks for content (storyline and adherence to contest rules/details), and finally, 10 marks for creativity. If you have anymore questions about our judging scheme, again, feel free to contact any one of the three administrators for this forum through a PM, or the forum itself.

Prizes: (There's GOT to be prizes, right? Why else would we be judging your stories??? xD) Alright, the types of prizes we'll be offering to our first place winner will vary from one contest to the next, so keep an eye out to see what sort of prizes you can win ;) Also, if ti is a big challenge, we may think about giving out prizes to the top two entries.

This time around we'll be giving the winner a choice between two prizes. Drumroll please!!! :D

Choice #1- A picture on deviantart . com made for you by Unleash The Shadow or SakariWolfe

Choice #2 - A sneak peek of the 'holiday' story Crimson Fox4 has in the works.

If none of these prizes appeal to you, I'm sure we could negotiate something if you win, that or else, if you so wish, we could pass on one of the prizes to whoever won second place, or one of your friends here on the site. We'll deal with this problem when it comes though, so don't worry about it just yet, although, we do hope you like the prizes we are offering!!! ;)

Again, Good Luck with this Challenge!

I would also like to mention that if you are participating, please post a short note on this topic saying that you have something in the works. We want to have a rough idea of who is participating for the last outline of the whole judging thing.

So, anyone that wants to participate, please post a short note on this topic.

Aloha again everyone!

We're thinking its unofficial that no one completed this first fall themed challenge of ours, but that's alright, if this forum and challenge keep going strong, maybe there's a slight possibility of recycling that challenge for next year? We'll see... xD

Anyways! Everything below this paragraph is info that will help you out with our next challenge, this one is going along with the tide of the season..... *drumroll* A Winter Holidays themed story!!!!!

Challenge: Alright, this challenge is slightly different than the last one. This time, we aren't going to give you the list of words that you somehow have to work into your story, nope! We've got a different mind bender for you guys this time 'round!

The following are the beginnings of a Winter Holiday story that we'd love to read written by you guys! Each of the administrators of this forum created a beginning paragraph for everyone to work off of, so basically, you have to choose between three different story starters and see where they take you. Don't get what I mean? keep on reading then!

Story beginner choices:

1.(character) looked up into the night, studying the little dots that resembles stars. If only she/he could share with the one....

2. (character) sighed as he/she stretched out on the Condor's deck. It wasn't often that the Storm Hawks stayed on a terra for more than a day. There was an approaching thunderstorm, and the crew had decided to savor the Holiday season and stay at the nearest airship port- which happened to be on terra (terra name)- rather than fly through the storm. (character) had decided to simply relax and enjoy the winter weather of terra (terra name).

3.Staring up at the stars on Christmas Eve, (Character) began to wonder what this Christmas would unfold for the Storm Hawks, after all, it was their first Christmas together as a squadron on the Condor. As small delicate snow flakes began to float down from above, (Character) would have never guessed that (event) would unfold the very next day.

Alright, those are your three choices! Basically, they're just the skeletons of your starting paragraphs or sentences that you can use to create your stories with. I hope there's a beginning for everyone here!

If you feel like writing something with out our resident Storm Hawks being the main characters, feel free to replace the words 'Storm Hawks' with whatever Sky Knight squadron (or Cyclonians) that you want involved in your fic.

Again, we don't want to totally kill anyones creativity, so of course we'll allow pairings for this challenge, in fact, probably for all of the challenges unless we say otherwise. Although, like I believe we've said before, we'd really apprecitate if you refrained from writing slash sort of pairings for these challenges, but if you'd like to question us on this, feel free to contact us through the PM service on the site.

Also, we'd love it if you could keep profanity to a minimum, or even better to a zero if at all possible.

Also, we were thinking of this challenge creating oneshotesque stories, so we'll be limiting you to in around 3,000 words. If you need a little more to get you point across, that's alright as well, just please, aim for generally 3,000 words for this time around. (You can have up to 3,500 / 4,000 at the most if your entry needs to be seperated into 2 chapters or more)

Due Date: We're thinking in around the 20th of December, this hasn't been set in stone yet, so make sure to check out the forum every once in awhile to check if the due date has been changed.

Judging: Again, you'll be given a mark out of 30; 10 marks for grammar and spelling, 10 marks for content (storyline and adherence to contest rules/details), and finally, 10 marks for creativity. If you have anymore questions about our judging scheme, again, feel free to contact any one of the three administrators for this forum through a PM, or the forum itself.

Prizes: You gotta' love the perks! This time around, we'll be giving out a 1st and 2nd prize, and depending on how many entries we recieve, we may include a third prize.

1st - A picture on DeviantArt by SakariWolfe or Unleash The Shadow, OR a new avatar picture for your profile created by Unleash The Shadow or Crimson Fox4.

2nd - You can choose any of the three administrators to dedicate one of their coming chapters to you all because you were awesome enough to participate in this contest! WOOT!

A nice long update, now wasn't it? *shrugs* Hey, it had to be written out sometime, right? Besides, I think most of you out there that read my (CFox4) stories that I hardly ever get to the point very quickly.... xD

Anyways, Good Luck with this Challenge!

Hmmm...I might participate in this challenge. All depends on how much free time I have and if I can think of anything to write.

So that's a maybe from me. I'll post another comment later saying if I will participate or not.

Hey everyone! Well, as you all sort of know, it's kind of been a month or two since we've issued a new challenge...

In all truth, we're going to postpone the prize rewarding challenges for another month or two, or until we hear word that more people are interested in participating. but don't worry! For those who still want to participate but don't love the deadlines all that much, for now we're going to post up some unofficial challenges, in other words, practice challenges! :D

Seeing as its the end of January and next month is February which includes Valentines day, SakariWolf, Unleash The Shadow, and I challenge everyone to make a Valentines day fic about your favourite couple, or that focuses around friendship, or whatever you wish so long as it somehow connects to Valentines day ;) the only other rule is to try and limit your self to 2,500 or 3,000 words if you're creating a one-shot. But that's only a ballpark number, so if you end up having more, I'm sure that should be alright ;)

Please stick to the general rules from our other challenges though please! (ie. Swearing and course languauge non-existant / at a minimal, etc.)

Also, please drop us a note here on this part of the forum if you think you might participate in this practice challenge!

Good Luck!

Hi all! :D I would totally be interested in writing oneshots for your contests! (Depending what the topics are). Since SakariWolf was the ONLY ONE who reviewed More Than One, (thanks so much) I'll totally support your phoenix thingy!
