avatarjk137Topic: The Character Status Thread
A thread to keep track of the status of the characters - they'll either be Battle Ready, In Combat, Eliminated, or Up For Adoption. I'll also keep track of win records and alliances (when they become applicable). Enforcers will be at the top, highlighted; your characters will only show up here once they have entries completed. If I miss anything, please tell me. NOTE: Enforcers can also be 'Set' if judges feel they're too swamped with judging or whatever else to battle right now. This is an exclusive privilege for Enforcers, but at least 3 Enforcers must be Battle Ready or In Combat at all times - I expect each judge to have their Enforcer do their part at some point. The storyline explanation for this is that the Set Enforcers are hanging out back at the main base instead of an outpost or patrolling, and aren't yet accessible. Judges can comment here to switch between Battle Ready and Set at any time they aren't in the middle of a battle. Travis Touchdown - ELIMINATED (one victory, one loss) Joruus C'Baoth - ELIMINATED (one loss) Shadow the Hedgehog - Battle Ready (Pre-adoption: one victory, one loss) Hatake Kakashi - In Combat (one victory) Warrant Officer Tashigi - Up For Adoption Mystique - Battle Ready (one victory, one loss, has no keycard) Jiraiya - Up For Adoption (one victory) Mr. Incredible - In Combat Jade Curtiss - Up for Adoption (Intro needed) Gig - ELIMINATED (two victories, one loss) Vitali - ELIMINATED (one victory, two losses) Ban - In Combat (two victories, one draw, one loss) Nathan - ELIMINATED (one victory, one loss) Demyx - ELIMINATED (two losses) Waluigi - ELIMINATED (One loss) Dr. Robotnik - In Combat (Pre-adoption, one loss; post adoption, three victories, one draw) - has keycard Bowser - ELIMINATED (One loss) Starkiller - In Combat (one victory, one loss) Raidou Kuzunoha 14th - Challenging (two victories, one loss) - has keycard Nero - Up For Adoption (one victory, one loss) Haru Glory - Up For Adoption (one victory, two losses) Roxas - ELIMINATED (two victories, one loss) Keele Zeibel - Battle Ready (two victories) Cho Hakkai - Challenged (two victories) Experiment 627 - ELIMINATED (two losses) Leroy - ELIMINATED (two losses) Harry Lockhart - ELIMINATED (one victory, two losses) Mr. Blonde - ELIMINATED (one loss) Predalien Queen "Ginger" - ELIMINATED (two victories, one loss) The Joker - ELIMINATED (one victory, one loss) Pekonyan - Up For Adoption (two losses) Anwar - ELIMINATED (one loss) Professor Membrane - ELIMINATED (two losses) Alex Mercer - ELIMINATED (one loss) The Bride - Battle Ready (two victories, one loss) - has keycard Auron - Up for Adoption (Intro needed) Red - ELIMINATED (two victories, two losses) Rorscharch - Up for Adoption (Intro needed), CHOPPING BLOCK Commodore Smoker - Up For Adoption (two victories), has keycard Left Standing: 7 Contestants (1 more waiting on entry), 4 Enforcers Adoption Agency: 6 Contestants, 3 Enforcers | #1 Apr 30th 2009, 3:50pm . Aelsthla-MentalUmm... What does it mean when a character is highlighted? Edit: never mind, I must have missed that bit at the start. | #2 May 30th 2009, 11:58pm . Edited May 31st 2009, 1:48am

avatarjk137Alright. As of this writing, the challenges are open. 14 Contestants and 3 Enforcers are currently battle-ready, and my two Enforcers will be up ASAP. On a more personal note, if challenged, whether I kill or spare will be decided by my interpretation of my characters. If I beat you with Smoker, I promise I'm a lot more likely to spare you than if I beat you with Travis. |
avatarjk137Well, the final tally is 26 Contestants and 7 Enforcers, plus whatever the adoption thread will supply. Not bad, if I do say so myself. 2 Contestants have already been killed. If there aren't CENSORED more deaths by the end of July, I'm siccing the Enforcers on you all! |
Reaper's ShadowHow many guys do we have to kill to avoid such a fate by the end of July? |
avatarjk137I think it's one of those numbers where it works better if I don't tell you exactly what it is. Rest assured, though, the number stays constant and I already know what it is. | #6 Jul 11th 2009, 12:07pm

Reaper's ShadowSo how would Raidou's battle with Robotnik do? Would it count at least as an "failed" kill since he tried to kill Robotnik but the pacemaker saved the madman? Plus Raidou still isn't aware that Robotnik survived the Heartbreak attack. | #7 Jul 11th 2009, 12:19pm

avatarjk137It wouldn't count. This is about how quickly characters are eliminated from the tournament, for the sake of not letting it drag on for too long. | #8 Jul 11th 2009, 12:24pm

Reaper's ShadowI should have known that my nice guy nature would come and bite me in the ass. |

Clement RageUh...hi. I know this is odd, out of the blue, but can I adopt Robotnik? Moonshine's Guide invited me to this a while ago, but I told her I was too busy. I couldn't enter before June as I was doing exams, but now I'm pretty much free and I've missed the late entry. I don't like Robotnik all that much, but since he's the only free character I know... I know this is odd, I'm sorry. | #10 Jul 19th 2009, 12:58pm

Clement RageThanks, but...I know nothing about him. So I'll stick with Robotnik, provided I'm allowed. Thanks though. | #12 Jul 19th 2009, 1:16pm

avatarjk137Welcome to the forum, Clement Rage. Yes, you're allowed to adopt Robotnik... however, I just closed a poll for other characters to be placed up for adoption (all the nominees had been reserved but were ultimately not entered). I've just placed Rorscharch of Watchmen, Pokemon Trainer Red from the Pokemon game series, and Auron from Final Fantasy X up for adoption if you'd prefer one of those. (And if you want to stick with Eggman, sorry to keep bombarding you with other options after the fact). If you want to go with Robotnik, just pick up from where Blood Lord Dark Kiva's entry leaves off. If you want one of the other three, you'll need to start with an intro chapter. Either way, I hope you enjoy the tournament. | #13 Jul 19th 2009, 2:41pm

Clement RageRorschach...interesting, very interesting. Him v Beatrix or the Joker would be good. But, since I already have plot ideas for Robotnik, I'll stick with him, thanks. I'm thinking of taking a slightly darker tone than the cartoons or games if that's okay...he realises that this island probably will be the death of him. I'll post my starter tomorrow. P.S. How do you create links in these forums? | #14 Jul 20th 2009, 12:35pm

avatarjk137P.S. How do you create links in these forums? Posting the URL will create a link if it's to a page from this site, Youtube, or fictionpress. Anywhere else and you have to copy and paste the link. If you want to have the link inside a word, like this, you highlight a word or phrase and click the button with the chain-links symbol on your little menu of text-editing (it's next to the binoculars). Then you paste the url and set the target to either open in the same window or a new one. Note that you can also only do fanfiction, fictionpress, or youtube links that way (Also, that's a link to this same thread, so don't bother). | #15 Jul 20th 2009, 12:44pm . Reaper's ShadowWell, I'm not sure if this is the right place to announce this, but it doesn't look like any other place to say this, so here goes: After coming to the conclusion that my reason for my slow writing is my doubt, I have decided to quit the tournament. Since this stuff will be continuing through my school year, and the fact that I REALLY need to improve my grades, it wouldn't be wise for me to continue. I am still extremely behind on my writing, and this is just the summer! o-O I'll only slow down the tournament at this rate. As for my doubt, I'm the type of guy who always doubts in nearly everything because I always lose, and I always lose because of that doubt. Until I can rid myself of that, I have no right to call myself a writer. I may be quiting now, but I will return, though maybe to a new tournament. So until that day comes, I shall be rooting for all of you, so think of me as an audience member, especially to Eshtar and Nemorian! Watch each others backs for me, 'kay? ;) So then, as for Eshtar, since I am quiting, I will forfeit our match, so you are the victor. Congrats! ^_^ I only have one favor: please continue to judge the match between me and Gambit. I want to know who actually won, seeing as how I put a ****load of effort into that chapter, as well as drunk an extreme amount of soda to stay awake. o-O Big mistake on my part! XD Plus I could use a few more pointers as to how to improve. Also, I am willing to help anyone who picks Nero or Raidou, though I hope they will come into the hands of an astonishing writer as I don't want them to die. You see, in order to write, I take the role of the character onto myself, try and think how they would act and put it into my work, though it sometimes ends with mixed results. And doing that, I can kind of get attached to them. So please take extra care of them. I won't forgive you if you allow them to die without a fight like I did! Thanks for everything you guys, including you too, avatar. Its such a shame, because I was planning on taking you down soon. *shrugs* There's always next time! ^-^ Ordinary Fan, thanks goes to you as well for helping me open my eyes to improve my skills as a writer. You have my gratitude. Eshtar and Nermorian, I am truly sorry. You guys can kick my butt later, but it needs to be done. I hope when alliances come around, that you two will team up and win this thing. I'll be rooting for the both of you the most! As a matter of fact, I hope you guys get stuck with my characters, though I also hope neither of you loses your guys as well! Now then, I'll get back to my own stories! Final Cross May Cry alone has accumualted quite a lot of dust! Later and good luck! And may the black wind howl, Reaper's Shadow | #17 Jul 25th 2009, 5:52pm

An Ordinary FanOrdinary Fan, thanks goes to you as well for helping me open my eyes to improve my skills as a writer. You have my gratitude. ...Wow. This is, without a doubt, one of the nicest things that has ever been said to me. I'm glad that I was able to give you a new challenge to work with; I was rooting for every fight you made, even if I forgot to leave reviews. I wish you all the luck in the future, and hope to see you in any future competitions that might pop up. | #19 Jul 25th 2009, 6:24pm

So until that day comes, I shall be rooting for all of you, so think of me as an audience member, especially to Eshtar and Nemorian! Watch each others backs for me, 'kay? ;) I'm genuinely sorry to see you leave. You shouldn't doubt yourself so much; I thought your level of skill (and the obvious effort you put into each fight) was a pleasant surprise. You're welcome to join the next tournament, or even rejoin this tournament; even with you as the third withdrawal, I can't see this tournament wrapping up before December. I don't doubt that you'll be able to bring your grades up, if you're intelligent enough to write like you do. I promise to judge your fight as if you were still here, and to make sure your characters aren't given away lightly, although I can't guarantee I'll only give them to writers at least as talented as you (because writers at least as talented as you will probably retain their own characters until late in the fight). I also can't promise I'll be up for anybody to challenge during the third tournament, so come back soon if you're attached to that idea. Eshtar, I would still like to see some sort of entry for that fight, just to establish whether you kill or spare Raidou (although I can guess the answer). You don't have to pour your heart and soul into it, though, and if it's a bit late, that's fine too. Sorry for the delay in judging, by the way. I've been involved in another character tournament that I made it to the final battle in, but that ended on Friday, allowing me to focus more of my energies here. There will be judgments, along with a behind the scenes chapter and an intermission chapter for Smoker. | #20 Jul 25th 2009, 11:25pm

Clement RageAw...sad to see this happening, you were definately a contender for the tournament title. I'm not just saying this, you had among the best written fights of any I've read. The battle with Robotnik gave me a lot to work with after BDLK dropped out, allowing me to develop his character and setting up a downright fun battle for my debut. Your review of my opener was very supportive and helpful, and I'd like to thank you for that. Still, you've probably made the right decision if your schoolwork was suffering-realistically, it has much more impact on your future (sorry av) and there's no point in participating if your life is going to suffer for it. That said, I hope you return, because you gave us one of the most enjoyable fics I've read in the tournament, and if you return I'll wish you all the best. Good luck, and thanks again for sparing Robotnik and providing me with an oportunity to enter this tournament. All the best. | #22 Jul 26th 2009, 2:53pm

Reaper's ShadowThanks guys. If I do come back to raise some hell, I'll most likely pick Raidou since he was my main guy to fight with. By the way, I saw the verdicts for my fight, and I still want to know what exactly was the problem with the song part. Personally, that was my favorite part. And a note to Aelsthla-Mental: I wished I could have added more of Dante and co., but that was one of the things that cost me my fight to KR, so I couldn't afford to do such a thing. Still, I just realized that I need to finish this Raidou intermission chapter in order to make more sense of Nero's story, so you may or may not see the DMC team watching the fight. And now that KR's done with the Kakashi one, I can finally begin to really get started with it. It should be up in a few weeks, and then I'll be done until I decide whenever I'll come back again, though it is still too early to say that I'll be back for good. Good luck to you all! | #24 Aug 05th 2009, 2:23pm

Lord Gambit508wow I thought we weren't killing much, we're almost half done | #25 Nov 02nd 2009, 8:12am
avatarjk137That's actually not much. In a traditional single-elimination tournament, half the characters are gone after round 1. However, only a quarter die in Round 2. Even if you pick up the pace with the challenging and the killing, it will go more slowly becuase there are less fights able to go on at once. | #26 Nov 02nd 2009, 8:35am

Lord Gambit508good point Hey! I know everyone who is still in the tournament! (not personally obviously I mean as in.......well you know) | #27 Nov 03rd 2009, 12:42pm

Reaper's ShadowWhen did Skipper skip out on the competition? (sorry for the lame pun) Does that mean there's an opening among the judges? | #28 Nov 06th 2009, 12:19pm

avatarjk137It happened at some point during the Ginger/Robotnik/Shadow fight. Real life complications forced him to bow out. I still have seven judges other than myself, and unless some of them urge me otherwise, I will consider that plenty. There aren't as many fights to judge from here on out, anyway. | #29 Nov 06th 2009, 2:22pm

Lord Gambit508Is it ironic that most contestants dying are more of the killing sort than the one's surviving | #32 Nov 22nd 2009, 12:38pm
Clement RageNot really. If someone's a killer, the character fighting them is less likely to let them live because they're a threat. 'You're too good to live.' It's easy to spare Harry or Red, because they aren't likely to kill you, but it's much harder to spare Ginger, because she's not the type to surrender. | #33 Nov 23rd 2009, 2:19am
Lord Gambit508Yeah, the only real killers left are Mamba, Mystique, Touchdown and possibly Ban, I don't know that much about the last one to be sure. (and I'm not counting Joruus because he operates on some messed-up justice system and could possible spare somebody) | #34 Nov 23rd 2009, 4:09am
Khellan RafeBan doesn't seem to have a problem with people he fights dying, though he doesn't usually go out of his way to make it happen. He figures if he beat ya, and you don't die, he'll beat ya again if you come lookin for him. And Joruus is just too tough to call, like you said. | #35 Nov 23rd 2009, 11:50am
