Bob-dude17Topic: Christianty and its spin offs
Something that's always confused me about Christianity is the dime an dozen spin offs, Catholics, Prods and what not will nitpick over stupid little details when they A. Believe in God and B. Think that Jesus is their savor. So why the disagreements? Should that be enough for people? You don't see Jewish people or Hundis or whoever bothering to nitpick as much as Christians do. Any thoughts? |

DracoriOh yes, this is a kick in the head XD It's enough to make your head spin, honestly. You'll have people going, "They're not a real Christian, I'M a real Christian" so many times that you just give up. How DO we know what a real Christian is? I mean you have your Christians who believe in God but also believe in tolerating others, and then there are the Christians who believe in spreading hate and forcing religion down the country's throat. These tend to be the fundies, of course. This is another reason why I'm glad I'm an atheist. With all these different versions of Christianity, I'd constantly have to worry about whether I was the right kind of Christian, and if God was going to torture me if I didn't get it right. |

DracoriI think the main contributor for different sects of Christianity is just the fact that the Bible has been translated so many times and it seems like every version says something totally different than the other, and it's no surprise that every Christian will read one version while another reads a totally different version and then as a result we have all these Christians saying they're the true Christian and everyone else is a fake. |

Saya MoonshadowThere is actually an ancient type of Christianity (that died out about...400 AD or so?) that believed a lesser deity created the world. Their reasoning was that if THE God had created it, it would have been perfect, but it wasn't, so it was must have been created by a less-powerful, inferior entity. Weird, huh? |

ghibli92Well, the Catholic Church was actually the first Christian church, but I get what you're saying, and I agree with you 100%. The kids in my class can get into nasty arguments; there's a small population of Catholics in my school, and the Proestants are always riling them up about how they "worship Mary" and "worship statues". I think about 25% of Iowa is Catholic, so they're outnumbered most of the time. XD It's crazy, in Ireland, they actually kill each other over there over such tiny differences in faith. I suppose they used to do that over here, with the KKK and such. One day, I told a particualry annoying Methodist kid that Martin Luther was an angry German hermaphrodite that hated Jews. The hating Jews part is true, however. lol This isn't a total protestant bash, but where I come from, Catholics are the ones who are targeted. I told them all in the middle of class that it doesn't matter what you worship, you're all batshit. XD I'm not even an atheist, I really don't know what I am. I suppose non-religious. But that doesn't take away from them being batshit insane. |

Social Outsiderghibli92, they actually used to do it up in Northern Ireland for many years. During the Troubles (which is the name for the war), things got so bad during the fighting that the British government interverned by sending out troops to help keep the peace and it's worked but there are still some groups out there wanting to destroy the peace again. |

WolvesRule612Look. I am a Baptist. That basically means I am an American Christian. The different churches are basically the same except they do things differently, the exclusion being Mormons. Mormons believe that Christians have changed the Word of God so much (although we have proof we haven't changed a word, just language) that Joseph Smith "rewrote" the Bible so that all the things he liked would be allowed. |
