AlwaysYourAibouTopic: YGO plot holes
There are many of them. Lets see who can list some plot holes that were made rather obvious at the end of the series. They don't have to be plot holes, it could be just a question you have or a funny obersvation you've made. I'll start! 1) What happened to Atemu's cartouche? He isn't wearing it and we all saw him take it off. Where did it go? 2) Where did the millennium items actually go? I mean, I know they were "sealed away for all eternity" but exactly where are they? 3) Anyone notice when Solomon is dueling joey in ep 185 (I think), that solomon plays a card that has his face on it??? Its a younger him but its him. lol. I find that pretty amusing. 4) So what is with the appearance of Shadi at the end of the series? Its like he wants to say something but everyone is leaving. What exactly happens to him? Okay, you guys are next. List your own or attempt to satisfy mine! |
Sabina-sanI thought Shadi appearing was a way for the audience to know that he could only rest once the Pharaoh was at rest. So, him staying in the crumbling grave shows that his soul will finally be at rest. *shrugs* Just my take on it. ^^ I wondered about the Millennium Items as well. I mean, I assume they don't just go away. I bet you they are still useable pieces for someone who is willing to dig them up. Hmm...possibilities for another series? |
Natoya*grins* Yeah, the Solomon card made me laugh! I was like, holy crap, it's Solomon! XDD I agree with Sabina about Shadi, perhaps he was just finally able to be at peace or something, after seeing everyone off. As for the items, as far as I know, they are buried deep under the ground, and I suppose everyone thinks they're so deep under, there's not a chance anyone could get them, especially with another collasped tomb on top of that. That's miles of rock and rubble to dig through, with a more then likely chance of causing something else to collapse and you'd probably have a lot of deaths in any attempt to get them. ^^ You'd have to be very, very determined. *chuckles* |
AlwaysYourAibouHey, that didn't stop people from finding imotep in the mummy 2 alright! I mean, I agree with sabrina in that would make an EPIC series. To have someone find them and use them for something. I guess I could agree about the whole thing with shadi. I just thought they could have done something better with it. I don't know though. More plot holes!!!! 1)When Tristain threw the Millennium Ring into the forest in the Duelist Kingdom arc and Yami Bakura got it back out of nowhere is the first one that comes to mind. XP. How did he do that. I mean Bakura is amazing and all but seriously!!!! 2) What actually happened to Seto and Mokuba's parents? I mean we all know they were adopted but what actually happened to them?? 3) I was always wondering, what does shadi do when he isn't helping Atemu and gang? Hmmm... 4) What actually happened to Atemu's body? |
Natoya*grins* True. ^^ I guess when you're a fictional character, anything really goes. You can survive things that would kill most people, and you can also pull stuff out of nowhere. *coughBakuracough* XD It's like they carry around a demensional pocket that no one can see, just to pull stuff out of it that you wouldn't think they could get ahold of just to wow the crowd. XD I agree also on the epic series. That would be a fun one to see. =D Hm... Seto and Mokuba's parents. The dub is really unspecific on this one. First they say they died, and then they say they disappeared. I think they just died in the Japanese. Atemu's body... I think in the manga, he said it was destroyed when he sealed Zorc or something, I could be mistaken. Grandpa never came across it when he was in there, so maybe... Unless it was in a different part. Hm... *thinks* |
Sabina-sanHmm...Atemu's body...well, here's the thing with that. So, if Atemu said it was destroyed when he sealed Zorc, then at the end of the series, he shouldn't be able to return to the Afterlife. The Egyptians believed you needed your body to go to the Afterlife and if you didn't have it, your soul was damned to wander the earth for eternity. So...if his body was destroyed...he should still be with Yugi! *plot bunny attacks* A great storyline...*grins* As for Bakura retrieving the ring...I always wondered that myself. I was rewatching the duel with Pegasus and Yugi a couple of weeks ago and noticed that Honda, Anzu, and Jou left Bakura's body on the balcony. So, while they were absorbed in the duel, there is a possibility that Bakura possessed Ryou's body and went to find it. |
NatoyaOoooo, that's a good point with the body Sabina! ^^ Hm... I wouldn't normally think Yami and Bakura could possess the hikaris without their items, cause I don't think Yami could take over unless Yugi was wearing the puzzle, but that is a possibility that he went to find it, since he did possess Bakura without the ring in season five, so he could take it back from Yugi. Hm... *thinks more* |
Sabina-sanYeah...see, that's what makes it so difficult! That part of the series definitely has some inconsistencies. Then again, I wonder about Yami. He does seem to care more for his host than Bakura does. I mean, Bakura does care for Ryou to a point, but most of the time, it seems that he just uses him for his own means. So, that makes me wonder if Yami made a conscious choice not to use Yugi's body without "permission" or only in cases of great need. |
NatoyaTrue, Yami does care more for Yugi it would seem. That time Bakura saved Ryou was only because he still needed him in order to carry out his plan. Yami probably did decide against using the body without permission, so who knows if he has the same power Bakura does, because whenever we see him take over, Yugi always has the puzzle around his neck, and in the dub, when Keith was brainwashed and stole the puzzle, Yami could only maintain contact with Yugi for a few moments, because he claimed the bond was weak. *scratches head* So if he does have that power, it seems weak. |
AlwaysYourAiboutechniquely if we went by ancient egyptians beliefs this plot would have failed miserably. I mean, the egyptians actually thought that king's spirits could be in many places at once. For instance at night, pharaoh's soul was said to guard his tomb while he was still in the afterlife with another god. If that were the case, Atemu could have been with Yugi and still "resting in peace" so to speak. Agreed, I don't think that Yami Bakura could have gotten the ring back to Ryou on his own. Ryou either had to go looking for it or someone helped Yami Bakura. Hmmm... OH! Here is another one! Remember how when the battle city tor. just started and Marik kept saying he wanted "the power of the pharaoh" or in other epis he phrased it as "pharaoh's power"? What the hell was it? I mean, the millennium puzzle had power but Atemu himself? His name did but I don't think he himself had power. Because I wanna know what it is. And an epic fail on 4kids hands is during the memory arc when everone says "In the name of the pharaoh" yet no one knows what it is. In the jap version, it is different,. I find this ironic and annoying at the same time. Agree? |
Natoya*raises hand* Hai, agreed! ^^ Ooooo, AYA, that is an excellent point! =D Cause Marik also went on about how he had to kill the Pharaoh in order to take his power and all. Which you know, reminds me, how do you kill a dead guy? I know if he killed Yugi, Yami's mission would fail cause there would be no vessel, but wouldn't he technically still exist? He's trapped in the puzzle, so if Marik stole it and killed Yugi, Yami would still be trapped in there, wouldn't he? *scratches head* That always made no sense to me, talking about killing someone who's already dead. Hm... Maybe he did mean his name, cause his name was the key to everything, but if you killed him, or rather Yugi, then he wouldn't get the power his name held, so wouldn't Marik technically be stopping himself from getting the power? Hee hee, that is an epic fail! Agreed! xD In the name of... Wait, what was your name again? XDDD |
Sabina-sanlol! I didn't watch the Memory Arc by 4kids...but it does sound like an epic fail! Well, the way I understood the Pharaoh's power was the ability to call all three gods (Osiris, Ra, and Obilisk). The only weird thing is that (and it could've been the subtitled version that I watched) the only way the gods could be summoned was to know their names, and supposedly, Yami was the only one who knew because he was Pharaoh. Yet, Marik and the others knew their names as well when they were turned into game cards. And now, I just had this thought...Marik kept saying he needed to kill Yami to "gain his power." I don't think he meant some sort of mystical power. I honestly think he meant the title of Pharaoh. Because technically, only Pharaoh could call upon the true power of the gods. And Marik couldn't be Pharaoh as long as Yami still lingered. I wonder if he had to do something else besides destroying his vessel. |
NatoyaThat makes sense, tho you're right, he did know the names of all three gods. And that also makes sense about the title of Pharaoh, cause I do remember him saying that he wanted to be the Pharaoh, or that he would be the Pharaoh once he beat Yami. Yeah, kill Yugi, it traps Yami and he can't really do anything after that being a spirit and trapped, so Marik would be Pharaoh and have the puzzle and all three god cards. World domination. ^^ |
Sabina-sanAnd if Marik shattered the puzzle, there is always the chance that someone else wouldn't be able to rebuild it, thus rebinding his soul into darkness. I mean, it took Yugi eight years to build it, so if Marik was determined enough, he could hold out the hope that no one else would be able to piece it together. |
NatoyaThat's true, but I doubt he'd break it if he got a hold of it, cause he'd want to use it to take over the world, tho he could break it once he was done with it... And I doubt anyone else would be able to do it, unless Yugi came back. Hurray for reincarnation! XD |
Sabina-sanXD YAY! So many different possibilities...haha...I wonder if Takahashi would ever do a question and answer session...^^ |
NatoyaTrue, there are tons! ^^ I would really love to see what he would say about some of these. |
AlwaysYourAibouOkay, I suppose I could see the title of pharaoh being the power of the pharaoh, however, I think that 4kids should have been more specific about it. Okay, I dug up some other questions and comments we can chat about. Has anyone else noticed that I am the only one doing this?? 1) The change of Yugi switching names for Yami in the middle of the series. Okay, I know the reason people say they switched it was for a more "honorific title" but I feel as if there should have been some explaining in the dubbed version. I mean, changing from a very personal "Yami" to "pharaoh" shocked me when I first saw it. I suppose this is part of the reason I refer to Yami and Atemu as two different people. Starts to make you wonder if Yugi thought the same thing, thus the reason for the title switch. Although, I suppose we will never know the true reason. I don't think the honorific change was quite good enough to be honest. Seems a little fishy to me. hmmmmm...... 2) Calling Atemu by Yami. Have you guys noticed that we called Atemu by Yami but all the other Yamis have their own titles. Bakura/ Yami Bakura and Marik/ Yami Marik. Although sometimes it is placed as Yugi/ Yami Yugi, you'll notice that in a lot of fanfics and even during the series, everyone called Atemu by Yami, even though techniquely only Yugi had the right to call him that. I thought that was kinda interesting. Perhaps I just answered the question above. Maybe the reason they had Yugi start calling Atemu "Pharaoh" was b/c of the whole name switching. I think it would have bothered people mroe to continue calling him Yami up to the memory arc where suddenly he isn't Yami but Atemu. Whoa....now I have a headache. 3) The ending of the capsule monsters series was extremely rushed. I feel like there was more they could have done with it. It was especially confusing when Shadi made that sly comment about "he with the power to unite mankind can do so without it [the power alex desired]" Then they fuck around with us by having Yugi had a flashback of it and Yami saying something along the lines of, "it looks like our adventures are far from over". What a tease. A lot of people said it was to bring about the whole memory arc. Okay, let me inform you all of something, Atemu and Yugi didn't really unite anyone there. So what the heck did that phrase mean exactly? Or am I interpreting it incorrectly? Okay, answer away!! =) |
iSparrowHere is, to my knowledge, how the whole "Yami" thing started. So this series started in Japan, right? And we know that "yami no game" roughly translates to "Dark/Shadow Game" - they're the games the Millennium Spirit (as he was then known as) tossed out right and left once Yugi solved the puzzle. The fans in Japan, at that point, had nothing to call the spirit, so they nicknamed him Yami, as he was, technically, the "darker" half of Yuugi. Yami no Yuugi literally means "Dark Yuugi," as we all know, and they issued out the same names for the Bakuras and Marik. So it was never canon in the sub, really; just a fandom thing. But when 4Kids decided to make a dubbed version, they liked the name Yami (and they needed something to call him other than "spirit") so they picked it up and made it official in the English version. However, when they realized that Yami's true name was actually one of the biggest plot points in the show, they said "lol whoops" and dropped "Yami" and pretended it never existed, instead opting to call him "pharaoh." But the fans clung to Yami because... well, I don't know. It was really just a misunderstanding. So yeah, that's kind of how people started viewing Yami and Atem as two different people: Atem is the Ancient Egyptian pharaoh, the one that we technically never see in the series (even in the Memory Arc since that's Yami in Atem's body), and Yami is the spirit of the Puzzle. I personally think that Atem and Yami aren't quite the same people: Atem, even if he was a kind and just ruler, was raised as a pharaoh - meant to be selfish and treated as a god; Yami has no memories of his past, and can be forgiven if he oftentimes doesn't seem like he has a personality, either. He, if I had to put money on it, probably cares more about Yuugi than Atem would. As for the thing with only referring to Yami no Yuugi as "Yami" and not YnB or YnM... I have no idea. xD I've wondered about that too. And the Capsule Monsters thing, actually, I'm pretty sure that arc took place between seasons 3 and 4. When you think about it, it can't have been between seasons 4 and 5, because they were in California at that time, just recovering from Doma and getting ready to start the KC Grand Championship. And I doubt it's just before the Memory World because they mention in Capsule Monsters that they don't really know much about Yami, while during Doma, they kind of figure out a LOT about the pharaoh's past. Wow, okay, so there's my two cents. xD |
AlwaysYourAibouYes AND Yami can read ancient egyptian.....wtf? He couldn't do that before he got his memories back. We saw that before season 4....so hmmm...idk. Its so strange! Not to get too off topic but yeah, I totally agree with what you said about Yami and Atemu thing word for word just about. I mean, this is how I look at it. Yami was the one who went to the memory arc and at the beginning when he had no idea who he was he promised to do anything he could to protect Yugi. Then, after he remembers everything he says stuff like, "It's strange, I finally feel like my own person" and "This is the first time in my life I wished for my opponents victory". Tell me thats not a slap in the face to Yugi and the others. Always pissed me off. B/c in the manga Yami seems a little resentful to go either out of fear or clingingness, we are unsure of. But to wrap it up, it is as simple as this....A yami is devoted to their hikari and will do anything to protect them while a king is devoted to protecting their country, even at the sacrifice of others. If you brought Yami and Atemu together and placed Yugi's life on the line, I figure that Yami would save him at the cost of destroying the world but Atemu would sacrifice him in a heart beat. Maybe its not that black and white but I do feel as if they are two different people by far. So what else is there to question? That was an interesting story with the whole "Yami" thing. I like the idea of having the name of darkness. Sounds awesome. But other plot holes anyone? 1) How about Mai's psycho transition from season 3 to 4? Ha. So strange. 2) The fact that Yugi's parents are never shown or even mentioned in the series irks me. Of course, its fun for writers like us because we can fill in the blanks with our imaginations but yeah.....its strange. Anyone else wanna present something they wondered about the series? |
NatoyaLots of good points guys! ^^ Yami and Atemu do seem like two different people to me, it's true. Totally agree with everything said. And it never made sense to me either how he couldn't read Marik's back, but he could read that paper in Capsule Monsters, crazy inconsistent stuff. Mai's pyscho transition ticked me off, I mean, after everything Yugi and the gang had done for her to show her that she was a part of their group and that they cared for her, how on Earth did she ever get the idea that they cared naught for her? I get the whole being jealous of their dueling prowess, but for that to be why she would turn on them doesn't make sense. I know Joey might have screwed up with telling her she wasn't in the dream, but he did correct that and show her the truth and tried his hardest to save her from Marik and suddenly she's all, no one loves me, no one cares about me, I'm alone, always have been. WTF? Seriously. Yugi's parents is a toughy. In the jap, his mom was shown in two eps I believe, but the stupid dub cut her out. So he does live with both his mother and grandfather. They did mess up in one ep tho, I guess cause they couldn't cut her out of the scene, she was in one scene. The ep after Yugi beats Pegasus and they come back to the hospital to get him, that lady standing next to grandpa is Yugi's mother. And I think I heard once that yugiohs creator said something in an interview once about Yugi's dad always being away on business so Yugi never got to see him, so I guess both of his parents are alive. Something I've always wondered, who is Bakura exactly? I know he's technically Zorc and all that, but who was the thief king? Bakura inhabited him in the beginning and told this story about how when he was little he saw the destruction of his village and all that, but then later he inhabited Zorc too, so was he originally the theif king and was possessed by Zorc, or was he Zorc the whole time? Probably a silly question, but it always bothered me as to who and what Bakura really was. |
Sabina-sanHmm...I'm not sure I would completely agree with Yami and Atemu being two different people. Let me see if I can word this without sounding like an idiot because I can't put my thoughts into coherent sentences. Okay...so, this kind of goes with the really complex look at time being circular. Ugh...this concept always made my head hurt with the implications, but try to bear with me as I try to explain. So, the first time we actually see Atemu is when Yami is inhabiting his body. With the help of Yugi and the others, Atemu/Yami is able to defeat Zorc finally and change the outcome of his future. (Although, I always wondered why Atemu/Yami didn't just stay in Egypt then even though he had no memories after the battle with Zorc. He could've built new memories, but he decided to back away because the future had changed? So, it made me wonder if in the other past, Seto became Pharaoh and so Atemu/Yami decided to continue to let that happen as if the outcome of the battle with Zorc didn't change. I digress...) Okay, but for Atemu/Yami to have come back and defeated Zorc, the original outcome of the past still would have had to happen. We, the fans, have no idea what actually happened other than Atemu sealed his soul into the Puzzle in order to seal the power of Zorc into the Millennium Items. We have some idea of what he was like personality wise, but I don't know if that paints a complete picture of his true self. So, I don't think he would be two different people. His responses change the second time because in order to actually defeat Zorc, he had to seal himself into the puzzle and be revived 3,000 years later and piece together his memories with the help of others. Yugi may have had influence in changing Atemu's attitudes into the spirit we know as Yami, but I think deep down, they are still the same person. Hehe...I feel like I'm rambling...I don't even know if that all makes sense! ^_^; Yeah, I agree, Toya. I could never understand what was going on with the Bakuras. It was all so confusing! |
Sabina-san*Looks around* I guess I'm a thread killer with my outlandish thoughts...haha! |
AlwaysYourAibou/chuckles/ no not at all. I have been trying to think of things to talk about but I think we about covered it. I mean, I do wanna know I few things but hey. 1) Why the difference in the japanese and english versions with how old Yami is? I heard it was because fo the whole slavery controversy if any of you have heard of that. 2) With YGO the movie, many plot holes were presented. I mean, this anubis guy was suppose to be some evil force in Yami's past life, yet you never hear about the guy. I assume this is the problem with making movies when the plot of the series itself has been written. 3) What I find to be a major plot hole is that, NO ONE REALLY KNOWS ABOUT YAMI'S PAST! This bothers me considering we have been waiting for this epic show down forever and then when it comes the fans are going.... "Thats it?!". During the anime series, Yami goes back in time to relive his life as king in some sort. However, I doubt he was king for a mere week. I just feel like they could have done more with the season than that. I know they go off of KT writing, but they could have gone into detail a little more. I mean, the whole dartz thing was about 40 episodes long while Yami's past was half of that. I feel like more explanation into Yami's character could have gone done. Just saying. What do you guys think? |
NatoyaSlavery controversy? I never heard of that. Why would his age be a problem for that? Yeah, I always wondered that too, about Anubis. That definitley deserved more detail and explanation. And I kind of thought it was funny how when he appeared, Yami was all "Anubis!" and Anubis was all "Ah, Pharaoh, you remember me." That always made me laugh, cause Yami had no memories. The only reason he even knew about him was because Yugi went to that exhibit and told Yami about it. Yes, Yami's past is still a big question mark. We know some of it, but not enough for it to be truly satisfying. And I agree with you, there is no way he was king for a week. I didn't even think he was king for three days with the way the series moved so fast. I was like, well that sucks, crowned and killed in only a couple days. I would have liked to know what Yami was like before all this happened. You got a tiny bit of insight into his childhood, but that wasn't enough. I also would have liked to know a little about his mom. I would assume she had died when he was younger, since she wasn't shown nor mentioned in either the show or the manga. Although something about the manga bugged me too, cause when Aknadin was talking about his past in the manga, there was a picture of Aknamkanon, and behind him was a woman holding a baby. Who was the woman and the baby? Was she his wife? Or was she just some random person who lived in the palace? I wish the manga would have mentioned who she was, cause now that's going to bug me forever. |
Sabina-sanYeah...I was really disappointed with the Memory season. I felt like Yami's past could've been explored so much more. I felt sort of...empty after I watched it. I was like, "Yay! He defeated Zorc this time! But...that's all we get to know?" I never heard anything about a slavery controversy. I haven't seen the movie yet...^_^; I didn't want to see the dub because I was afraid it was going to be as bad as the show. |
AtemuXSunehriI have two things I've been worrying about: 1) Why doesn't anyone realise the difference btween the hikaris and the yamis? The only one they can diffrentiate is Ryou and Bakura. There are differences between them like the fact that Marik has spikier hair and a deeper voice. Also with Yami and Yugi, doesn't anyone realise that Yami is taller that Yugi and his facial features are sharper. 2) If all the yamis are supposed to exist in Egypt, where is Marik? Is he Preist Karim, he looks nothing like him! |
AlwaysYourAibouAha and there is the problem. See, the fans look at Malik/Marik as having a Yami when in a way, he really doesn't. His was "created" by himself. While Yugi and Ryou have Yami's that are separate souls and spirits from another time. Since Malik in a way created his Yami, I don't think he actually traces back to ancient egypt. |
Sabina-sanThat makes sense, AYA! As for people not differentiating between Yugi and Yami...I heard somewhere (I don't remember where now) that the only reason Yami appears taller to us (the fans) is to make it easier for us to tell who is in control. In the actual YGO universe, he is the same height and everything as Yugi. This makes me think of Dissociative Identity Disorder (used to be called Multiple Personality Disorder) only because in those cases, people have different identities, but their outward appearances don't change as far as hairstyle and height. |
AlwaysYourAibouHahaha...thats funny. Lets face it....there is so much wrong with this show! I mean, fate of the world over card games? Really? And when people talk about souls and such, in the real world, 72 hour lock down! |
Sabina-sanHaha! But we love it anyway... Just think, if there weren't holes, we wouldn't have anything in canon to write about! |
iSparrowWhy doesn't anyone realise the difference btween the hikaris and the yamis? The only one they can diffrentiate is Ryou and Bakura. There are differences between them like the fact that Marik has spikier hair and a deeper voice. Also with Yami and Yugi, doesn't anyone realise that Yami is taller that Yugi and his facial features are sharper. That's what Season 0 and the first set of the manga was for - if you look at Yami's and Yugi's first designs, they actually do look very similar: the only differences being that Yami's got the crazy glint in his eye and a fetish for leather. As time moves onto Duelist Kingdom, that's when you start seeing more noticeable changes, and that's when the characters in the show start seeing them as well. They come to realize that Yugi and Yami are different beings; they have individual personalities, and as Jounouchi, Honda and Anzu realize this, matching up which characteristics fit with which of the two Yugis becomes easier. They also realize that they look different, and they take note of Yami's sharper eyes, stronger chin, etc; so as they come to recognize Yami as his own person, so do we the viewers. Long story short: Yami and Yugi look incredibly similar, even discounting the hair. They're just drawn differently so that the audience can discern which is which. Also, yes, Yami was always taller than Yugi - up until the Ceremonial Duel, when it's clear that Yugi has grown as tall as Yami (look at the shot when Yami has his hands on Yugi's shoulders) to represent how Yugi has grown to equal Yami and such forth. But again, the anime really exaggerated how different their appearances are: in truth I don't suspect they were ever more than two inches of each other. Possibly three, maximum. If all the yamis are supposed to exist in Egypt, where is Marik? Is he Preist Karim, he looks nothing like him! Yami no Marik isn't a spirit of an Item, though - he's insanity unconsciously created by Marik himself, an extension of his "inner darkness" or whatever, and that's why they look so similar. (This is, to my knowledge, how the reincarnations go: Yami is Atem and Bakura is Bakura (obvs), Seto is Seto, Ishizu is Isis, Sugoroku is Siamun, Dark Magician is Mahaad, Dark Magician Girl is Mana, BEWD is Kisara, Rishid is Karim, Shadi is Shada. No Marik anywhere in sight, because he didn't exist back then. xD) |
MidnightWraithWoah, woah, woah. -was reading back upwards- They called Yami by 'Yami' in the dub? o0' |
iSparrowThey called Yami by 'Yami' in the dub? Yeah, for about five episodes, before saying "lol whoops our bad" and completely dropping it... |
AngelTakioLemmie give this a crack: 1) What happened to Atemu's cartouche? He isn't wearing it and we all saw him take it off. Where did it go? Maybe it's just under his shirt... or maybe it went 'splody so no one could figure out his name again. 2) Where did the millennium items actually go? I mean, I know they were "sealed away for all eternity" but exactly where are they? If I remember right, they're burried under layers of rock and sand, somewhere in Kul'Elna. 3) Anyone notice when Solomon is dueling joey in ep 185 (I think), that solomon plays a card that has his face on it??? Its a younger him but its him. lol. I find that pretty amusing. Sugoroku was hot when he was a young man! I'd totally do him! 4) So what is with the appearance of Shadi at the end of the series? Its like he wants to say something but everyone is leaving. What exactly happens to him? Ummm.... he died... for real this time! |
AngelTakioOk, these ones are just for fun... 1)When Tristain threw the Millennium Ring into the forest in the Duelist Kingdom arc and Yami Bakura got it back out of nowhere is the first one that comes to mind. XP. How did he do that. I mean Bakura is amazing and all but seriously!!!! He cam make the ring fly. See the end of episode 199 for details. Serious, it's weird! 2) What actually happened to Seto and Mokuba's parents? I mean we all know they were adopted but what actually happened to them?? They're dead. Dead, dead, dead. Of course as we all know, you can't die on American kids shows, so they just made up some shit about being 'missing'. 3) I was always wondering, what does shadi do when he isn't helping Atemu and gang? Hmmm... Probobly the same thing we all do; drink beer and eat nachos. 4) What actually happened to Atemu's body? I donno.... do you think someone dug it up? |
AlwaysYourAibou/giggles/ I have another.... remember when Atemu fell during episode 207? How the hell did he survive...? I mean seriously? The manga doesn't even do a good job of this so I hear. I have heard that KT just has Atemu waking up saying he crawled to the top of that hill where the cave was......so no one saw him? Or better yet.....Atemu didn't think to crawl his way back to the palace? I don't know. I just think its funny that how in the manga he falls down into this gapping hole and then ends up in a cave on top of a hill.....interesting. |
NatoyaOh, I remember that! How do you fall from a cliff like that and survive, let alone climb to a cave on top of a hill? Unless it was that golden masked guy, Hasim? Hasam? Whatever his name was, that is supposed to protect the Pharaoh's, who took him there maybe? Cause when Atemu wakes up, that guy is there. But he wasn't there in the manga was he? *thinks* Unless he took him there and then left. |
iSparrowI'm pretty sure it's Hassan that saves him; it was never out-right stated, but I think that was the implication. And yes, in the manga, he's there when Atem wakes up. :) Unlike Kaiba, who can scale a cliff while holding a briefcase since his ego is just that powerful, Atem is human, and needs a push from the gods on occasion. |
Natoya*nods while laughing* Haha, that's true! XD At least Atemu knows his limits. ;) XD |

spirithorseJust throwing in my quick two cents here. 4) So what is with the appearance of Shadi at the end of the series? Its like he wants to say something but everyone is leaving. What exactly happens to him? When I first saw this, I equated it to the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when the soul of the person who guards the Holy Grail appears and nods at Indiana. Because, due to clumsiness, the grail has now fallen through a crack in the earth (this is sounding eerily familiar O.o) the object is lost to mankind for eternity, the soul is free to go to a good rest. I think, in Shadi's instance, it's the same idea. Yugi has delivered the items back and, through his actions, sent them somewhere where no one but fanfic authors can retrieve them, so that relieved Shadi of his purpose so he could go to his eternal rest. |

AlwaysYourAibouintersting....yeah in the manga Atemu does wake up to Hasan being there. Its interesting that they never exactly say how it happened. Here is another. Remember during the whole dartz freak out and when they first started capturing souls, it was placed on cards? Why did they scratch that after 4 episodes????? Oh and another, I just wanna say how it pisses me off that Atemu played the seal during that season when there was no reason to. No one was in danger and he put everyone in danger. so...yeah......grrrr on him! |
NatoyaMaybe cause it was too much like what Pegasus did? I dunno, maybe it was another whoops factor, or they were too lazy to keep up with it. And yeah, that always pissed me off too. I love Atemu, but damn! *whacks him over the head* No one was in danger! Had he been defeated, nothing would have happened. No lost souls, no world damnation, just a freaking lost title that he and Yugi never even cared about in the first place. It always ticked me off watching that one, how he was like "if I lose then two worlds will crumble!" *rolls eyes* Nothing would have happened, silly Pharaoh. |
iSparrowYeah, I wondered the same thing, about how they stopped putting their souls in cards... odd. I don't think we ever got a good answer for that. With the pharaoh using the card - well, he's kind of a jerk. He's obsessed with winning, and he knew the Seal would give him a boost. I mean, it's obviously a powerful card, and he knew that, so he figured maybe it could help him out if he used it the right way. Unfortunately he didn't, and yes he was pretty mindless when activating it, but keep in mind: he was once a pharaoh. A living god. And gods don't lose. Even if his loss wouldn't have been recorded, even if Kaiba never found out or it wasn't in any official tournament books, it would've been a deep blow to his ego. Remember in Duelist Kingdom when Kaiba threatened to jump off the castle and Yami offered to help him? He was willing to go all the way for the sake of winning - even if it is just a silly card game, because he counts every win, seriously - so he's always had trouble determining to what extent some things were worth. In the end, though, he clearly and happily accepts his defeat - by Yugi's hands, which really shows how much Yugi matters to him ;) - so at least he was able to learn that sometimes the ends don't justify the means. x) |

AngelTakioTouche, that was kinda retarded on his part. Still, to be fair, Yami/Atemu (Take your pick) has a deep sense of pride as a duelist. As one myself, I can respect that. It's what makes him play honorably and show respect for good opponents and condem poor ones. It is his single greatest trait... and also his worst flaw of character. He can't stand his own failure, it just eats at him. While most people just don't like to lose, I can say with 100% certainty that he is the only character who is genuinely afraid to lose. On the plus side, however, that one little mishap gave of some of the most beautiful Puzzleshipping scenes in Yu-Gi-Oh history! After all, every couple has a spat now and again, and when it's over, the bond is stronger.... And they probably had great make-up sex! |

spirithorseI'd also like to point out that he tries to justify himself by saying that it will release his Dark Magician Girl/Timaeus combo from that crystal stuff because it would raise their attack points; his most powerful monster had been sealed and he had nothing that would help him. Also, Raphael was playing off his lack of memory and pointhing out that Yami doesn't know anything about himself, he only has the story from the ones who are on his side. Of course he wasn't a horrible pharaoh but, without his own concrete evidence, he can't be sure about that. It's a silly little thing to worry over, but Yami is human (was human) and humans tend to be flawed and insecure at times. Also (and I can't remember if this actually happened) wasn't Rebecca's grandfather's life on the line. He had escaped, of course, by now, but Yami didn't know until they were well into the duel. I think he had played the seal before he was informed of this fact. But I may be wrong. As for the card thing, I think they just stopped showing the cards because it was pretty obvious when someone lost their soul. The pretty light show is kind of obvious. But Yugi's card...I think that they didn't show his face on the card because they thought it would be confusing when Yugi showed up in the stone wilderness place. And, it still confuses me at times. | #46 Oct 22nd, 5:53pm . Edited Oct 22nd, 5:56pm | |

AlwaysYourAibouYeah, I mean I guess I thought that by that stage of the series, Yugi and safety of others would have meant more to him then a game or winning. But I can see your guy's points. I mean, he did consider himself a god in the flesh and what pharaoh wants pharaoh gets sort of deal. I think if they wanted to do that sort of idea they should have gone further with it. I mean lets face it, a real pharaoh possessing a teens body in today's world would never work. A pharaoh would be crazy controlling.....yet entertaining. But I do agree that the entire scene made the series! Yugi having to save Atemu was great. Best episode ever! Day it played: November 13, 2004 Time: 11:30 to 12:00 eastern time. Yes...I remember. Hell, I can even tell ya what I wore that day. It was an OMG day because of that freakin episode. Yes, perhaps I am too much of a devoted fan. Heres another plot hole.....how do the cards stay on the duel disks????? LOL |
spirithorseThe power of friendship? Magic? Heart of the Cards? No, there's probably little corner holders at the bottom just like the ones that were produced for the public. Or a vacuum system in the contraption that was activated when something was pressed onto it (aka the card) and held it in place. This could get into a complicated conversation about the inner workings of the duel disks. |
Sabina-sanlol! Centripital (sp?) force? I remember seeing that episode for the first time when Yugi sacrificed himself for Atemu and I thought it was the most heart-wrenching moment. Especially when Atemu continued to beat himself up over it. I was like, "See? There has to be more to their relationship than friendship for Atemu to be so upset!" |
spirithorseSweat, blood and hair gel. That's what keeps those cards in place. |
