tavia454Ok, since I have a little time this morning before RL intrudes on my fantasy of not having anything to do I'm gonna go back to Aya's question about Yami vs. Atemu and why Yugi calls him Yami in the dub. I think that was a massive screw up on the part of 4Kids idiot selves. In the manga and the sub Yugi never refers to Atemu as anything other than his other self. He has nothing to call him. 4Kids just charged right into the middle of this anime without doing their research (which all of us authors know is a bad, bad thing to do) and hooked up with the part of a phrase that was always said in connection with the spirit of the puzzle. All of their friends still called Atemu Yugi if he was in possession of their body at the time. *shakes head* Once 4Kids realized that it was a major plot point they just dropped the nickname and called him Pharaoh. Aiyah! Irritating if you ask me. There was a lot of research that they didn't do before rushing into this with only the thought of making a ton of money off it. Marik was never after the Pharaoh's power - he wanted to kill him. Flat out kill Yugi you kill Atemu (or at least send him back to his own personal hell) and that was what he was trying to do. The shadow realm really didn't exist - people actually died in the manga or were driven crazy. But 4Kids (and many over-sheltering parents) decided that all kids are not emotionally adept enough to deal with the concept of death. *rolls eyes* Death is a part of life - life's next big adventure if you want to look at it that way. I always figured it was up to me as a parent to make sure my kids were sufficiently prepared to deal with RL on their own by the time they grew up. And that involves letting them get hurt and make their own mistakes (as much as it pains me to do it) Okay - rant over. What I never understood was why did we never learn the thief king's true name? Or did he even have one that he remembered. I know this whole thing about him being Zorc's spirit trapped within the ring, but there really was a part of the thief king trapped too. You can see it when Zorc turns on him after he gathers the millennium items - when he's turned to sand in the memory arc. That's the person I'm looking for - he's the one who protects Ryou on top of the blimp. Not Zorc. Anyone have any ideas on this? |

SilvershadowfireIt's an elecro-static system that creates a positive charge on the plates, making the cards 'cling' to the surface of the duel disk. The deck holder part gives the cards a negative charge so that they can be held in place for all the dramatic gesturing :) *stuffs Seto back in his dimensional pocket* |

ZombieBlinkyOkay, I don't know if anyone mentioned this or not already, but this is one thing that stuck out in my head. In Season 2 when Ishizu is telling Yami about his past and he's having a flashback, we see him dressed as an ancient Pharaoh. Problem is, he has no tan. But later on in series, Atemu as a pharaoh does have a tan. (A silly detail I know, but I 'lol' all over myself when I remember it.) That amused me greatly. |

Sabina-san*thinks* ....Oh yeah! haha! I remember that now! I thought, "Wow...Yami's pretty pale for living in Egypt all his life!" |
 |
NatoyaOh I remember that too Zombie! It wasn't just Atemu though that had no tan; Kaiba had no tan either, and neither did any of those weird people who did the odd chanting that you never saw again after that episode. It was like they had decided for one episode that Egyptian people weren't tan. O.o |
 |
spirithorseIt was a bad year in Egypt then. ...or everyone just sat inside all day playing children's card games. |
 |
NatoyaXDDD Spirit, I'll bet that's what they did, after all, who doesn't love a good children's card game? *giggles* |

AlwaysYourAiboulove the avatar toya! Yami is pale b/c he spent 5000 year in a puzzle of darkness. Anyone would be pale after that duration of time.....what I hated was the flash backs in 54 in which Yami is still pale even back in his ancient life. Nope. Oh, notice how in 163 Yami can't touch Yugi at first but then they do at the end? Weird. Also, the wolf Sky is apparently has the ability to transform sexes since it is a female at first and then male later. Chris calls it a her in "I hope she didn't wake you up" and then iron heart calls it "Hey boy".....hmmmmmm. |
 |
NatoyaThank you AYA! ^^ Ah, I hated that too. Also in one ep with Noah, after they connect minds for some bizzare reason, they show him briefly in his Pharaoh garb, and yet again he is pale. Yeah, Yami's moments of being able to touch things varies sometimes, which is strange. Oh yeah! I remember that. Sky must have magical powers too. |

CrazyAboutYugiBut that's just about 2/3 of the appeal of Yugioh. It just doesn't make any sense xD |

Natoya*laughs* Ain't that the truth Larka! xD |
