Just curious: if they weren't vampires and AH without powers (you didn't say it would be required, only important), what would Edward have to keep from Bella?

Other than that, I'd love to take you up on this offer. I just would like my question clarified before I attempted anything (though I'd probably stick with a vampire-based plot).

Hmmmm... That's a really good question! I hadn't thought about it.

I've read some AH stories where Edward was only really perceptive but couldn't actually read minds. In those ones, he usually had some dark secret from his past that he tried to keep from people. For example, there was one I read where before he was adopted by Carlisle and Esme he had lived with severely abusive parents and then was in a group home where he was abused again. Unfortunately that story didn't turn out to be very good and was then abandoned, but that's the only example I could think of off the top of my head. :)

Hrm... I can see that Bella would want to know that (should he be human), but I don't think it's quite as tantilizing as knowing he's a vampire. Bella doesn't strike me as the type to drag people into that type of situation. Also, if she suffered through rape/pre-rape, I think two broken souls would make a story too depressing! Ha!

One other question, if you don't mind! Wasn't he obsessed with Bella by this point? I mean, he was there to save her, so he must have been. And Alice (according to Midnight Sun) was watching out for her from a fairly early point.

I don't mind questions at all! And yes, in the books he was rather obsessed with Bella by this point and had Alice watching her--as we found out in Midnight Sun. However, if you take the stance that since Midnight Sun hasn't been "published" yet, you don't have to completely adhere to it... Well, then you wouldn't have to go very AU to say that Edward's obsession took a little bit slower course. Or maybe not so much that it took a "slower course" but that it hadn't taken him over so completely that he felt the need to watch her every move yet. Perhaps he thought that she would be safe enough with two friends constantly by her side? Or perhaps he was struggling with himself, trying to convince himself that he didn't need to be so obsessed/concerned with a simple human being after a century of living as a vampire? Whichever way you want to address it is fine with me. I have read some very well done stories that are so AU they have nothing to do with the original except the character names and pairings. So don't worry about going too AU. It's totally up to you!

There kind of is no deadline on this one since interest for it was random and spread out, so if you'd like to try it out, I'D LOVE FOR YOU TO!!!!! I've had one person complete their version already, so they were officially the "winner" but I am interested in any versions people are willing to write. Please, take a shot! :) Thanks!!!

So, I'm on here because I beta'd TRDancer's challenge entry for this, and now I want to write one, because the ten other projects that I am working on are not enough to keep me busy AT ALL. (Can you hear the sarcasm?)

I just wanted to know if--because there was already a 'winner' (there was, right? Mabey I just hallucinated seeing that you mentioned there was a winner)--I could still post an entry for this challenge? It sounds really intriguing, and I already have somewhat of an idea in my head :]
