Topic: NCIS / CSI challenge

I'm usually not one to post challenges for stories, but this one popped into my head and has stubournly stuck on.

I've got two possible theories as to how such a story could work:

One: Greg Sanders, after years of working as a CSI in Las Vegas decides he needs a change of pace and moves to Washington DC. Unable to get a job with the CSI there, he calls someone, (Gil, his mother, Tony, McGee, doesn't matter) and is informed that there's an opening at NCIS. Since he's already a CSI 3 or 4 by this point, the government, in all it's glory, considers it a lateral move and he's pretty much an instant Special Agent (after his years of experience as a field CSI).

Two: More interesting, McGee or Abby witness a murder while at a forensics conference in Las Vegas (could you see Tony or Gibbs at one?) when they witness a murder. Through their connections they call in the rest of the NCIS team to either clear their name or because of circumstances.

Bonus points if you come up with an even more interesting crossover that somehow involves two teams of forensic investigators half a continent appart.
