Topic: Writing Help - Canon facts

Hey...sooo..I need some help for a one-shot I want to do...I won't go into detail on what it's about but I have some facts that I need to find from the books but I don't have my books with me:( They would be in RotG..basically I need to know what it said about the time restrictions for new gods...like..how long before they could leave their own lands and whether or not it said anything about how long before they could enter the mortal realms? If anyone could help me with this I would be very grateful :)

For new gods, it's a century to leave the lands. At leas that's what it was for Sarra. But they can still enter the mortal realms. It just has to be on a holiday, or they have to get permission from the Great Gods.

Mmmm okay that's what I thought...I just wasn't sure about entering mortal realms...even though Daine was pulled into the Divine realms her parents never fully entered it..just their hands technically so I wasn't really sure...

Remember how at the end Sarra said they would visit on the holidays? Well, actually she said something along the lines of "it's not too far from the fall equinox", and well, since it was said in no uncertain terms that Daine couldn't go to the divine realms, I think we're safe to assume she meant them going to the mortal realms.

Oh it's no biggy. I remember a time a couple months ago when I had lent out almost every book that I had an itch to reread :)

Mmmm, yeah you're right. I remember this now....

I was going to write tonight..I have like..3 ideas for one-shots right now..but I am currently busy reading Loten's fantabulous fic...*sigh* it's been a while since I've actually been reading regularly...I've been so caught up writing myself..and there haven't been many new D/N fics....oh...I just realized I haven't worked on the archive in like...ever...oops...

what's exciting me is that I'm ALMOST done my work, so if I hurry, I can write tonight! Yay! I am about THIS close to finishing the next chapter I'm posting on my DN fic

Oooooh that is exciting. I've been writing a lot lately...it's just that I've been writing a lot of drabbles and one-shots as opposed to what I should be working on..oops. I just got hit with like..3 new ideas for one-shots today though..so I don't see that changing...

Haha, sorry for distracting you?

Haha don't be, it's been such a long time since I've read a really good fic. That's the problem with getting older...higher standards...less to read...

I distract myself easily anyway...I was going to write this afternoon...instead I re-did my profile page and skimmed another 40 pages of the song of the lioness section to find more fics for the community....only 100 pages left...*cries*

Oh I know what you mean. I remember the first DN fic I read, like, waaaaaaaay back in I think 6th grade (ah, to be young again), and I thought it was awesome. I recently went back to skim through it, and I was like "did I seriously think this was good?" But then again, I have a younger sister who's now in 4th grade, and I can completely see her enjoying it in two years...that is if she ever gets her butt away from comics and to actual books. Don't get me wrong, I love manga, but books are still #1. And at least I was a already a book nerd by the time I found out about manga. Besides, manga doesn't teach you much grammar...I always feel like pulling out my hair when my parents have me proofread my sister's Writing HW. I've taken to nagging her about grammar now to try and get her to improve - _ -. Woah, way off topic.

Sigh. I didn't get to write last night. T_T. But on the bright side, I managed to get all my music back, thank god! And today, I am absolutely determined to write.

Yeah..with the whole community thing i found a bunch that I thought were great when I first found out about fanfic and now I'm like...uhhhh...yeah

Manga definitely isn't good for grammar...I love it but it's not...especially because the translation can make things super awkward...American comics are slightly better..but not much. Have you ever heard of Doujinshi?

Woot! Congrats! That's a big deal....haha, i hope you get to it...I was going to...and am now watching a movie *shifty eyes*

I know! But now i'm stuggling because my friend who had all my music also gave me more, but i dont have room! T_T I need a bigger ipod...

haha, yeah...I WAS! But then I just realized I have a recording of house waiting for me....heheh (innocently looks away)

I'm sorry to say that I haven't. I've kinda fallen off the manga wagon...I just don't have time. I did follow Tsubasa, and well, can I just say that I kinda thought the ending was a disappointment? I mainly read girly mangas :) but I also read Naruto and Bleach (like everyone -_-)

Awwww, that's always sad..my ipod is like...massive...so much more room than I need but the next size down isn't enough....

Haha, that's okay...stuff like that happens to me ALL the time.

Doujinshi is actually a type..it's pretty much fanfiction manga. Sometimes there are doujinshi of written fanfic. I've never seen any of D/N, I doubt it exists but I found an AMAZING one that was the manga form of this amazing fic in the Final Fantasy VII fandom..unfortunately the fic was abandoned a couple years ago...it's really disappointing as it was one of the best fics I have ever read hands down. What is it with a lot of the really good ones being abandoned?

OOH! Well, still, I'm sorry to say no. The only time I ever heard of any thing close to that is when they make a comic out of a book for some reason. Wow, that's interesting though. Are they actually published or are they just posted on line?

The one I found is posted online..there aren't many though...most you have to buy..the artists publish them in really small volumes to help avoid litigation....also most are actually in japanese..maybe they are more lax about that kind of thing over there, if someone over here tried to actually sell something lawyers would be all over it. I've found two online so far..both for the same fandom. One is by the actual author of the fic..and the art is good though not fantastic...the other one for the unfinished fic is by someone who got permission from the author and has amazing quality.

Hmmm, did my attempt at re-describing what I was thinking of for a contest help at all?

I have a question...

Recently I moved house, and I haven't been able to take any of my Tamora Pierce books with me. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the birds Daine and Numair admired in the Realms of the Gods were? It was either sunbirds, or flamebirds? I'm trying to work it into a fic, and I just can't remember!
