Ahoy, matey! We ask the Captains o' this port to kindly overlook this slight intrusion, but we be speakin' up in search o' like-minded Pirates. When our adventure first began, many moons ago, upon the great sea known as the Web, there were many places we who called ourselves, an' still do, ourselves "ficcers" could gather. There were chat rooms an' message boards on AOL an' other similar ports. There was CFAN for the comicaholics an' many an active mailin' list dedicated to this or that aspect o' ficcin'.Unfortunately, as time tallies on, many o' these delightful ports have either died away or are witherin' quietly to their graves at the bottom o' Davy Jones' locker (or perhaps, we should now say Will Turner's, aye?). Indeed, wit' the exceptions o' ff.net, which is a great port itself, though rather bogged down in time delays, heavy armadas blockin' portholes, an' deckhands, as numerous as rats fleein' a sinkin' ship, still learnin' the ropes, an' ports too steeped in rules to allow much fun, there really is nae a thrivin' port left on all o' the Web. Or, if there be such a place, it seems as elusive an' hidden as the fabled Atlantis. This conclusion has led us to open the gates o' our own isle to Pirates (ficcers) o' like minds. The Pirates who take refuge on our land an' in our waters should have a thrivin' desire to create, wit' others o' like minds, a thrivin' metropolis o' fic an' enjoy readin', writin', or doin' both fer the fandoms/couples listed below our signature, includin', but far from being limited to transform their mundane mailboxes into havens o' pleasurable fic experiences, includin' fic, art, an' communion.
