Topic: I Shouldn't Let It Wax Me, But...

...but I just can't help but wonder. Am I the only one who has the impression that this: Lola Whiterbottoms creatu... errr, spammer... I mean... person(...?) seems to be posting an almost unbearable ton of crap here? And at an alarming frequency at that?

No. No, it's not just you. Her stuff is crappity crap crap with crap on top. I've no idea how she does it; I'd be embarrassed to spit out that much tripe.

Dunno what's more annoying - the stuff she comes up with, the, errrr... "writing style" (for the lack of a better word) or the frequency at which it's posted. Don't even get me started about the summaries ("...Mmmm. Slashy goodness..." Shriek!)... or the reviews. *shudder*

"Well, this is fanfiction.net and I can post whatever I want!" Huh... Ok, I can actually live with that. TO each their own, and whoever wants to write/read crap is free to do so. But this... is seriously pushing my tolerance limit. Don't ask why it even bothers me. It shouldn't, really. But it does. Just so.

I can only thank whatever gods are watching she's not writing in my fandom.

I can see why you'd be annoyed, actually. Tripe is just annoying in general. In this case, it's not even bad enough to be amusing. Just boring.

I'm glad she doesn't write in fandoms dearer to me, as well.

I can't help but admire her, actually. I know her writing is major cheese but she takes everyone's crap and keeps plugging away. Most others of her ilk would be sobbing face down in their pillows and beating their fists. It's charming, really. I just smile and choose not to read it.

Generally I just ignore masses of slash stories if they're posted, but one thing I can say about massive postings - I mostly ignore them because I don't have time to sit down and read through it all at once. Even if a very good series of 5-10 stories was posted, I would be hesitant to start reading it simply because I'd have to make the time to catch up on everything. That wouldn't be a big deal for some people, but I have huge time constraints. I'd much rather if authors posted only a bit at a time to give the readers a chance to read. For me, authors that post so many stories at a time like Lola does are screaming, "Watch me!" not "Read me!"

*laughing* Oh, god. I can't believe there's a topic that is completely devoted to Lola. I have to admit, I think she has everyone taken aback, and I've been dying for months to see if anyone else was like, 'Who is she and what goes on in her imagination?' I'm confused every time I read one of her stories because of her genuine aura of faith that DRIZZT (whiny 13-year-old-ish pseudo-hero) and ARTEMIS (depressed, anti social, paranoid, aggressive, lonely man with a disgust for the world in general) are absolutely 100% made to be with each other. I'm always like 'whaaaat?' ...I mean... How does she come up with her stories after reading RAS' stories about them? Artemis doesn't even want people touching him, not even Dwahvel. Drizzt can't stand people he thinks are "evil". They totally repel each other. I know that the term "fanfiction" gives us all latitude, but her ideas are just out there.

Oh, THAT one. I remember after I finally got my one friend who's read RAS to try fanfic, he was scared off the site in only a few hours by "The Only One".

Credit where credit is due, though -- "Weapons Master" has given me an idea for Bregan D'aerthe!Drizzt AU.
