A fic that has my favorite characterization of Sakuno: When I Come Back to You by FallingSilver.

I like the way the story portrays Sakuno here because it’s clear that she’s older. In effect, the authoress has made her appropriately more mature, and she does so in keeping with the Sakuno that we know in the canon.

I know I could’ve just suggested this at the “Fic recommendations” thread, but this particular fic is predominantly shonen-ai, and hardly anyone here seems to tolerate that sort of pairing. (Please pardon me for the run-on sentence, by the way.)

Even so, I urge you to take a glimpse at FallingSilver’s Sakuno by reading the first three chapters. Just skim to the parts where Ryoma and Sakuno interact with each other. Don’t worry, the aforementioned chapters are safe. :] My favorite part, though, has to be the final bit of chapter 19. Again, just keep skipping down to read it. Be aware that Ryoma may be a little different than the Ryoma you’re used to.

That’s all I have to say.

I heard a big rave about this particular fic from the blog/website of an online buddy of mine a few years ago, but when I found out it was yaoi, it instantly turned me off. I'm actually ok with yaoi pairings, as long as it doesn't mess with my OTP (RyoSaku in this case, if that wasn't obvious, haha). Like, I can tolerate a fic that has TezuFuji, as long as it doesn't mess w/ RyoSaku. (Even a fic with both RyoSaku and say, MomoRyo will turn me off. I guess I'm a purist that way).

Anyways, if the fic you just rec'ed is like that, then I'll check it out. Lemme know. =)

Ahh, I see now. Thank you, but sadly, this fic doesn't have RyoSaku in it. I'm sorry, I should've said that earlier. The reason why I didn't mention that sooner is because while I was reading that fic, the authoress wanted to keep the pairings ambiguous for awhile, and I wanted to respect that wish. Saying that it doesn't have RyoSaku in it kinda hints that there's MomoRyo in it, so yeah. That's why I pointed out the BL-free parts.

Oh, that person must have been me. I think I should just rec the particular chapter with the Ryoma/Sakuno interaction in it. It's chapter 19, towards the end. Understanding the chapter does require some background from the rest of the story but IMO it's just from one of the scenes a few chapters back. I can even tell you what it was, lol. Sakuno played a really admirable role within the story that I doubt most BL authors within PoT would have given her. That, I really loved at the time I read this story.
