Sephy-kun's girlTopic: Music Those of you who are Uematsu-san freaks, let's talk about his new music and how it's compared to the old FFVII music. |
|
IcedevimonI loved the new version of One Winged Angel as well as the new lyrics; much better than the original. The Jenova battle arrangement was okay, but not as good as the Black Mages version, and for the rest. Eh, it was nothing special. (to me at least, that doesn't mean it was bad.) |
|
Sephy-kun's girlI just wish I knew what the new lyrics were. ^^; I couldn't find them anywhere. As for the other music, I really loved the choral parts, like when Kadaj died. That music was not nothing special to me and my friends. I really enjoy Nobuo Uematsu's music, so hearing the new music was totally awesome! To me, at least... |

fire-emblem-girli really love nobuo uematsu-san's work. i have a whole block of final fantasy music on my mp3 player. ^^ i liked the new one winged angel as well. i have the song on my computer. ;p Noli manere, manare in memoria (x2) Sephiroth, Sephiroth Saevam iram, iram et dolorem (x2) Sephiroth, Sephiroth Ferum terribile, ferum fatum Noli manare, manere in memoria (x2) Sephiroth, Sephiroth Veni, mi fili. Veni, mi fili Hic veni, da mihi mortem iterum Veni, mi fili. Veni, mi fili Hic veni, da mihi... Noli manere in memoria Saevam iram et dolorem Ferum terribile fatum Ille iterum veniet Mi fili, veni, veni, veni, mi fili (x4) Mi fili, veni, veni, veni, mi fili (Qui mortem invitavis) Mi fili, veni, veni, veni, mi fili (Poena funesta natus) Mi fili, veni, veni, veni, mi fili (Noli nomen vocare) Mi fili, veni, veni, veni, mi fili (Ille iterum veniet) Sephiroth, Sephiroth Sephiroth those are the new lyrics. ^^ i loved the music in advent children. it was awesome as always. all final fantasy music is good really...except for x2's...it was just ew. |

Sephy-kun's girl^_^ I too have a significant sized block of Uematsu-san's music on my mp3 player! Including the original One Winged Angel. I have a song for all the games except FFX2 and beyond.I haven't heard any X2 music, nor do I especially wish to. I didn't particularly like FFX, so I don't see any point to getting X2. I also have heard nothing particularly good about X2....Perhaps its Spirits Within all over again... *shudders* |
|
fire-emblem-girlhey, don't you be knockin spirits within! i actually liked it alot. ^^ anyway, if you didn't like x then you wont like x2. if you don't like extremely ditzy and scantily clad women you will not like x2. if you liked the orchestral music in all the other ff's you will, you guessed it, not like x2. my friend's obsessed with it because i don't know why. it's an all woman cast but they're all dumb so it really does nothing to change the stereotype of stupid women in video games. the song that comes to mind is stupid girls by pink...lol. yeah, i have the original one winged angel on my mp3 player as well...and laguna's battle theme,ff8 battle theme, cosmo canyon, aeris' theme, main theme for ff7,eyes on me by faye wong, and the boss battle theme from ff7 done by the black mages and i actually do have real emotion in japanese by koda kumi(who is a ** by the way)from ffx2 only because i like those songs but none of the actual instrumental music. |
|
Sephy-kun's girlMy bad, my bad. I just thought it was a let down. It didn' have many of the things that made the games great. Major character development, plot twists, actual enemies, chocobos, etc...Just my opinion though.I liked X as far as storyline, graphics, music, and charaters...but...THE VOICE OVERS WERE HORRIBLE!!! They ruined the game for me. The best voice, in my opinion, was Seymor's. I have (in order) Liberi Fatali(FFVIII), Theme of Love(FFV), FF I-III Medley, Aerith's Theme(FFVII), Don't Be Afraid(FFVIII), Terra's Theme(FFVI), Dear Friends(FFV), Vama'alla Flamenca(FFIX), To (or "At") Zanarkand(FFX), Love Grows(FFVIII), Suteki Da Ne(FFX), Melodies of Life(FFIX), One Winged Angel(FFVII), The Man With the Machine Gun(FFVIII), FFVII Main Theme, and Eyes On M(FFVIII). ^_^ |
|
IcedevimonI hated most things X, though many of the songs were good. X2 was okay..plot stunk as much as X's, though the actual game play wasn't so bad. Hmm...am I the only one who has every Final Fantasy soundtrack on my MP3 player? I have from I on, and the soundtracks in between like the Piano Collections, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, and Liberi Fatali. |
|
fire-emblem-girlha ha, i'd put every song on there but sadly my ghetto mp3 player only has 256 mb of space on it. not nearly enough. besides, i have other songs on there too. mostly anime and game songs lol. but hopefully i'll get a new one soon cause i dropped my lovely tiny mp3 player and broke it in 2! and it still works. -_-' |

Sephy-kun's girlI would put all the songs on if I could, but alas, not only do I not own any soundtracks, my mp3 hasn't the memory for such a feat. ;.; I do, however, have a lot of piano sheet music for a lot of Uematsu-san's work. I just love how he makes such beautiful songs from fairly simlple melodies and harmonies. I wonder where his inspiration comes from. All I know is that his favorite FF song is the simple song called "Final Fantasy," y'know, the one you hear in FFVII after "Squaresoft" shows up when you turn the game on. Y'know, he actually doesn't really like his orchestrated music for some reason. He loves stuff like Led Zeppelin.(I found it rather interesting that he liked them!) | #10 Feb 24th 2006, 2:42pm

Sakura123The best pieces of Orchestrated music from the Final Fantasy Series would probably be Final Fantasy VIII, since to my knowledge it the first time Uematsu Nobuo utilized a Symphony in one of the Final Fantasy's after "VII" and was the best received. Though I could be wrong: I listened to the track "Maybe I'm a Lion," and I thought I was listening to a piece of score from the video game "Dark Cloud," when you travel to the Desert and travel about in that pyramid. You may disagree but that's my opinion anyhow. Final Fantasy X's music sounds like a mix of game and orchestrated music put together, especially in the battle songs. Most of it is a bit iffy, but the Temple score ---the vocals--- are melodic and sweet. It does begin to sound a bit more like Video game music after a while.Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children's score in collaboration with The Black Mages is surprisingly good, with its major negatives ---- that being that some of the guitar rifts sound like something taken out of "Batman Beyond" and "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker" to be frank. Espically when Kadaj and Cloud are battling each other right before Kadaj absorbs the Jenova cells if I remember correctly. "Advent: One Winged Angel" is my favorite song from the film; The very long guitar solo was the best! You could really feel the energy from the musicians. The second would have to be CALLING by Himuro Kyosuke. The way the song is arranged makes you think of a song that would've been perfect (or ignored) back in the late 1990s, which is cool. One negative about the song is that the lyrics are completely over powered by instrumental. The other is the score piece they used when Kadaj summoned Bahamut-Sin in the center of Edge City and when Cloud goes up against the Bahamut-Sin by himself. I can't think of the name of the song. | #12 May 15th 2006, 4:34pm

Shinomori KyoIf only my piano wasn't ghetto... (and didn't have a piece for a key missing inside...)And if only I could figure out how to read it properly to play it on a guitar... Ah, must be the same tune from the first game, then. (as you can probably tell, I haven't been able to play VII for a while... Usagi ran off with it. And my computer version's install disc got a crack on the inside of the disc...)(I HATE FF VIII!!! It corrupted my files... now, I have to redo the whole game again *at least I've finished it like three times before... Hello Codebreaker...) My mp3 player's an ipod mini. (paid 50 for it...) I've got about 20 more songs to put on... The only two good songs in FF X are Return to Zanarkand and Otherworld (both versions that I've heard...) | #13 Jun 10th 2006, 1:57pm

Roxas16I would like to say something if I may, oh forget it I can, and you can't stop me. Spirits Within was a good movie, just not a good Final Fantasy Movie, I've only played a bit of FFVII, 10, and that's about it. But Spirits Within had nothing to do with final fantasy, that I saw. Anywho my fave song on Advent Children is Those Who Fight (Piano Version)...you know the one in the battle with Tifa and Lox( I guess that's his name). That or Advent: One Winged Angel. I can't decide which is better.| #14 Jun 11th 2006, 12:38am

IcedevimonI think your right actually. It's kind of like the DaVinci Code. To those that read the book, the movie wasn't so good, but for those who didn't, it was good. (I'm speaking from my personal experiences, I'm sure some others are different) Likewise, to a person who has played a Final Fantasy game, Spirits Within would stink, but to a person who didn't it would be good. You were close to the name, It's Loz, not Lox, but I guess they would be pronounced the same anyway.| #15 Jun 11th 2006, 3:36am

Sephy-kun's girl"Those Who Fight" was pretty spiffin', but I think my favorite song had to be the choral piece they played when Kadaj died. It's just sooo pretty and sooo sad! ;.;| #16 Jun 12th 2006, 4:16pm

Sakura123If anything the most bearable version of "Those who fight" is the piano composition, which I think went horribly with the Tifa vs. Loz battle (it seemed totally off in that particular moment to be honest). The version used when the entire VII roster goes up against Kadaj's summoned dragon (the beast's name escapes me for the time being) is all right, it certainly is better than version that lasts no more than a minute and was used in the Yazoo/Reno/Rude/Loz battle scene. That aside, goes anybody know where I can get a MP3 version of the revamped "ONE WINGED ANGEL" composition used in the FFVII digest feature from off the first "ADVENT CHILDREN" DVD? I listened to the orignal version and I disliked it (it sounds too much like VIDEO-GAME music, but what did I expect from a game made in '97?). No, I am not looking for ADVENT: ONE WINGED ANGEL, but the OWA they use so fondly in the trailer and FFVII digest feature. | #17 Jul 03rd 2006, 6:59pm

StradivariHas anyone actually looked at the piano versions? (sorry, I skimmed through the thread so excuse me if anyone has. :P)Admittedly, pieces which were for the piano sounds nicely enough when played properly, but conversions e.g. JENOVA, isn't very good. One Winged Angel/Sephiroth's theme is alright on the piano, but the bits and tuen that are sung don't always get played out. THen again, we only have two hands. Otherwise, some of the bits, when revised for the piano, sounds quite good. :) Orchestrations vary from one quality to the other, but most are done electronically so we can't compare. Personally, I think the Beginning and Ending Credits music was simply fabulous. :;Is currently orchestrating part for Tifa's battle:: __________________________________________________________________ Support Genesis Award:: The best in FFF:: | #18 Jul 14th 2006, 11:20pm

animefreak249Here's what I have to say.Just to get this out of my system, the tracks used during the Bahamut Shin's summoning and Cloud's battle with Bahamut Shin are as follows: "Tenrai~Divinity I~", and "Tenrai~Divinity II~", which I thought were actually good... The piece used during Kadaj's death scene is "Yakusoku no Chi~The Promised Land~", which was also used during Marlene's narration in the beginning (the lyrics...when translated...are really weird). For the version of "One-Winged Angel" used during "Reminiscence of Final Fantasy VII", that piece is actually on a soundtrack that was Japan exclusive...I believe in 1998 or '99...I can't remember...which was called "Final Fantasy VII: Reunion Tracks". However, you can probably find a copy over eBay, or find it over the net somewhere. It also includes 16 tracks from the original game, plus three orchestrated tracks, which are "Main Theme" (which I don't know why it's called that...I just refer it as first overworld theme...even though I left it as Main Theme...), "One-Winged Angel" (which sounded amazing orchestrated), and "Aerith no Theme". All three of the orchestrated tracks were used during "Reminiscence of Final Fantasy VII" And, now that I think about it, it's quite scary. There are about six versions of the "One-Winged Angel" theme...Original, Kingdom Hearts, Ehrgeiz (which is just a rearrangment of the original), Piano, Reunion track, and Advent Children versions... Personally, I like the Piano versions of Tifa no Theme and Aerith no Theme more than their original formats (from the game...). "Tatakau Mono Tachi" on the piano sounds...quite funny, yet enjoyable. Okay, I'd better shut up now...I could have gone a little too overboard... | #19 Oct 12th 2006, 5:00pm . Edited Oct 12th 2006, 8:00pm
